Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

its funny you mention a band i find overrated and dont really like at all (DSOTM is overrated)
Dark Side Of The Moon is pretty overrated but it is an amazing album and I love it! I love listening to that album!

But yeah, I totally get if Mama's Gun doesn't do much for you. It's also not as accessible as Baduizm. Like Baduizm is more like good kid, m.A.A.d City and Mama's Gun is like To Pimp A Butterfly, in that Mama's Gun is more challenging, ambitious and shows a bigger artistic leap compared to the previous album.

Fighting words! DSOTM is my all time, #1 favorite album.

it sounds VERY 70s stadium rock

like i feel like im hearing the eagles

What?!!! You don't have to like the album, I've no problem there - although PF is one of the tops for me. But let's at least describe it accurately.

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume you've never heard "stadium rock" (PF may have played stadiums but they were not stadium rock) and/or never heard The Eagles (PF were nowhere near the AOR of The Eagles whether helmed by Barrett, Waters, or Gilmour).

eh i just dont like it that much

its like a 5 to me (yeah i haven't heard the eagles beyond hotel california.. i literally am just saying stadium rock for DSOTM because it sounds very "ok everyone is going to vibe to the chorus of time in a huge stadium and wave lighters")... i am probably more of a the wall or who knows maybe animals kind of gal.. or maybe i just prefer psych rock more than prog rock (except for yes seemingly)

I think you need to re-listen to this. Almost nothing on here is even close to stadium rock...

i dont want this all to be about pink floyd but legit all i remember of the album is breathe (because there is a repetition of the melody at the end of time) and time.. the rest was not the greatest album of all time like people said.. it didn't change my life or make me feel much emotion

No worries! I truly don’t care if you hate it with a fiery passion... but it’s not stadium rock.

eh it was just a generalization... i just found it to be just ok. maybe because i expected it to be the life changing greatest album ever made but im just not into their brand of prog rock.. and its weird because i love acts that do similar stuff like the flaming lips and radiohead (but i think those had specific beautiful moments like the crescendo on all i need or the demented cult like repetition of convinced of the hex). maybe its just my anti anything before the 90s stance taking over but i love the beatles more prog and psyche work

Yea legit I don't care if someone likes it, but don't compare it with The Eagles (anything but THE EAGLES!)

It's definitely ok not to like certain music. For example, I've never been able to get into Rammstein; but, then again, I've never really liked reggae

have fun.. im more just confused why i dont really like DSOTM or wish you were here when i love the soft bulletin and OK computer
I'm not sure what's confusing. They're different albums. OK Computer doesn't sound like PF - DSOTM or other.

I feel like people start comparing these groups/albums because critics get lazy. So, OK Computer came out and it's such a massive album as far as how different it was in sound and scope. When something is new and disturbs our set ways, then we try to find something older and familiar to compare it to (not just in music).

So, these albums come out and critics are like "Radiohead have entered their Pink Floyd phase" or whatever such bullshit. And it becomes shorthand for how we talk about these artists. Comparisons can be useful but it doesn't create a one-to-one correspondence. Sure, you can see threads and patterns that are familiar and similar, but the final garment is different.

No confusion - you listened to these albums. Some you liked, some you didn't. World keeps turnin' & burnin'.
