Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Don't forget Lil Simz (y)
Yaaaaaaaaas! It’s Little Simz, Denzel Curry, Tyler, The Creator, Freddie Gibbs/Madlib & Quelle Chris.

They’re the top 5 hip-hop albums of the year so far!

Injury Reserve’s album was good, but it felt like there was just something missing. It just didn’t go as hard with the bangers and the jazzy cuts didn’t have that breezy, effortless feel like before.

Rico Nasty & Kenny Beats album was also good, especially the first half of the album, but it didn’t keep the momentum up, and because the project was so short, the cuts that aren’t as good, really affect the enjoyment of the project.

scHoolboy Q’s CrasH Talk is easily the most forgettable thing this year, especially coming from a TDE member. Even though it was late last year, Jay Rock’s Redemption is so forgettable too.....

CrasH talk was not as great as I thought it would be, but I still enjoy it alot!!

Redemption was amazing tho!! I am surprised you didn't enjoy it! It's one of my favorites from last year! It's so raw and real, but also has mainstream appeal!

Jay Rock’s Redemption feels outdated. Even the chorus for “The Bloodiest” sounds awkward as fuck. I mean, it’s a nice sample from R. Kelly’s “Hook it Up”, but if you gonna sample a hot beat like that, you have to make it everything, like Kendrick did with King Kunta or even how Cardi B did Bodak Yellow.

I dunno, apart from Rotation 112th, a dizzying flute whistling tune that was irresistable and had a summer yet ghetto feel was one of the best tracks of 2018, nothing really stood out apart from that track though. WIN is such an annoying song by the way haha

Megan Thee Stallion 'Fever' still easily number 1 of the year for me. Followed by Igor. Still really hoping VMP presses fever, I know they're big fans.
I LOVE THAT ALBUM TOO!

Maybe take out Quelle Chris, even though I love how jazzy that album is, and place Megan Ther Stallion In there for the top 5 hip-hop albums of the year so far! (y)

Pivot Gang, Erick Sermon, Big KRIT, Smif-n-Wessun, and Little Simz are my top 5 so far this year (not in any specific order). 2018 is going to be really hard to touch when it comes to great albums though. Something great seemed to come out weekly.
