Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Tech N9ne - Absolute Power. His 4th album, was released in 2002, has 20 tracks. Never released on vinyl and I would love to have it.
this is probably the frontrunner

and thus i think this is probably an INSTANT swap for me because tech n9ne always seemed pretentious and overly wordy

the influence for every single hopsin, joyner lucas, gawne, and modern eminem of the world

Too much lyrical miracle shit recently. I’ve found the RHH track to be incredibly underwhelming for the three years I’ve been a member of VMP. Think I’ve grabbed like 4 of them?

like i dont mind lyrically gifted rappers.. i like El-P and Killer Mike, sammus seems pretty good, noname is obviously a genius, kendrick and DOOM (RIP) are given, black star by mos def and talib is an obvious classic, and earl has only gotten better the more obtuse he got.. the issue between a lyrically gifted rapper and a lyrical miracle is that (excluding the fact that most of them are underground white guys on youtube acting like they are trying to save rap in what i like to call "white savior rap".. because for those just show that filthy frank clip) is that they are overcompensating way to much with overly detailed raps that its honestly hard to really have fun with it.. we can have lyrically dense and intelligent AND fun at the same time

But Absolute Power is a ton of fun! Imma Tell, Slacker, and Biancas and Beatrices are all hilarious and bouncy at the same time. Plus bangers like Im A Playa and Absolute Power! Also going to Tech shows in my early 20s (and for this tour in particular) are some of my favorite memories. You want to have fun, go to a Tech show, I promise you will have a blast!

Yeah I'd be down for Absolute Power. Like you said a lot of fun tracks and also has some really solid rapping tracks too particularly to close the album. Always loved My Worst Enemy for the flip in the the story and also Yada Yada Yada with the shots at Don Juan

so i'm totally down for so much fun... interested in what april will be since 8 song albums just dont really exist.. and if june is tech n9ne... from the songs i heard i just didn't really enjoy and the newer songs i heard made me even less impressed (mostly because even though he is an inspiration to some rappers i legit DO love like kendrick, wayne, etc... the huge influence eminem takes from tech and the painful influence eminem has had to a lot of that white savior rap and preachy overly lyrical people who started listening to him after rap god)... but maybe i might be fine with it

I have something I have to confess...

I don’t like Freddie Gibbs’ Str8 Killa. I really like Freddie Gibbs and love his collaborative albums; Piñata 🪅 Bandana 🦓 Fetti 💎 and Alfredo 🍝

However, I’m not as much of a fan of his solo albums, with the exception of Shadow Of A Doubt, which is an incredible album!

I find the production on Str8 Killa bland and listening to this mixtape only makes me feel that Freddie Gibbs, along with Savage 21, is the most improved rapper of the 2010’s!

if the R&HH ROTM for April is Freddie Gibbs’ Str8 Killa, it’ll be an instant pass/swap unfortunately.

I don't think it'll be Str8 Killa tbh. I think we either misinterpreted the clue or missed an option.

But as a Gibbs Stan and someone who doesn't already own the Str8 Killa press (which is a pic disc), I would be ok with it. It would be especially dope if they did a little sidestep with the clue and did the full mixtape Str8 Killa No Filla mixtape. This mixtape/EP holds a special place just as it was what introduced me to him. These 2 songs in particular I knew he was going to be big:

so we literally dont know 2 of the 3 months including next month

we THINK june MIGHT be tech n9ne but who knows

and unless they are cheating its not freddie gibbs since its not even one of his first mixtapes or EPs

I admit I kind of got so focused the last day or so on Classics that I forgot to see what else we could have in RHH.

I'm still iffy on April being Freddie Gibbs but I haven't seen anyone put forward any viable alternative so I guess that's what we'll have to go with until the announcement.

For a the record I would probably sign up for a month if it were Str8 Killa.

Came in to say I have the Str8 Killa pic disc but would absolutely love a proper pressing!!

Especially if it's the entire mixtape as mentioned above!!

No

It's a debut from 2010, and it's 8 tracks long, can't be ESGN
The 2010 knocks it out for sure. But have we definitively decided that the 1 and the 8 are album number and tracks respectively. IIRC we haven't really figured out any of them yet and thus we could just be off what the clues mean

A debut RHH album from 2010 with 8 tracks? Lol Yea you got me there

Unless Str8 Killa Ep is now considered Freddie's debut lol if that was the case i wish we got The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs. the first official mixtape iirc
