Vinyl Me, Please Rock

Fucking hell. Lame! Albums everyone has, or that can be got cheaper or that are fucking Sublime 🤢

Also! Hi! There’s rock outside of the fucking states.

I don’t think that it could be possible to derive a worse start to a rock track.

When Crate Diggers track (that is not just a mix of colored variants of Now Again, Tidal Waves and Mr Bongo)?

I think thin lizzy would've fit in here if they'd had it operational then. I'm sure they'll get to non-us rock sooner rather than later

I dunno, a lot of those "this is easy to find" complaints also fit the other tracks, especially country classics. Their shtick is that they add something you don't get from a beat old og copy. Ymmv

I dunno, there will be the ocassional one but just have a look at their history, they’re so shockingly us centric that it’s embarassing.

If ZZ Top can even come close to the KPG then I'm in on that one. The rest I'm out. If Strokes had the OG artwork I'd consider it. But yes I agree it's a pretty uninspired first outing.

Yeah I get the ZZ Top, I kinda get the grunge one too even though I’d not go near it.

But that Stooges double with both mixes is still really available, the various presses of the strokes mov are good and really available, as is the soad album. I’ve made my feelings known on the other “band”.

Yeah I've got the KPG 2 LP Stooges so yeah no thanks on that one.

but the rest of the country can kick rocks!

Well I already have the AAA Rhino of Tres Hombres which is gonna be hard to top, and I have the 2 LP of Raw Power with both mixes (but I'm still in for this one just to hear a different mastering take, and the fancy VMP packaging). STP No. 4 only had one European vinyl release before which is spendy nowadays to acquire, none in the US, so that's actually a very intriguing pick. In for Toxicity as well, that'll take me back to 9th grade. Have a Strokes already with the better EU cover and it sounds pretty great, so I'm 3/6, but very excited to see what's in store for 2024 with this track. So many rock albums that need vinyl reissues that we dont have to bottleneck in the to-do list for Essentials now.

Based on VMP's past attempts to at least make it seem like they focus on diversity, I'm a little surprised that they're kicking off this track with all American white guy bands. Considering that's been a common criticism of Rolling Stone and others as a blind spot when promoting rock music.

System of a Down isn't white guys. And to be fair, rock was a genre whose genesis was just white guys playing black music. it's a very white, male heavy genre. But I'm sure we'll get diversity soon like we do in all the tracks.
