Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

We can also give non-sarcastic responses to members who've always treated everyone with respect and asked a fair question, yet here you are.

I remember the time a chorus of voices had content moved from the coronavirus b/c it was getting too political, yet here we are.

@scotthilk has always been one of the kindest, most standup members of this forum, at least give them the respect to not give them a shitberg response.

I thought it was a pretty reasonable response. Racism and police brutality go where they please, I’m not sure why discussions about it shouldn’t as well. And it’s not like these threads rigidly stay on topic at the best of times. I guess hot dogs are a little easier to digest than difficult conversations about the state of the world.

The genesis of the topic at hand came about because a valid point was being made about VMP making zero statements in support of protestors. It was a valid thing to post in the VMP general thread... and an important one.

The response of people getting bent out of shape about having to read it I personally don't understand. One could argue that you are living in a moment where exposing yourself and thinking about these things is vital... but I get why that feels burdensome.

The unwillingness to take on these types of minor burdens by parts of our society is part of the reason we find ourselves where we our today.

I know the genesis of this conversation, I've followed it.

It may feel burdensome to some. I don't find it particularly burdensome - I'm from a minority group and in an interracial marriage with a WOC (although, ultimately, I don't believe that there need be a CV rolled out; but rather to point out that I've not spent my life unburdened by discrimination based on my ethnicity). Nor do I find it startling to hold myself up - in thoughts, beliefs, and actions - to a light.

I do, however, think the request to migrate a conversation that has outlived its original impetus was fair. It doesn't show an unwillingness; rather some flexibility.

that's great.
my post wasn't in response to you or the request to migrate or i would've quoted

Instead, let's turn to the talk of football or if a hot dog is a sandwich! The standards around here.

Nah. You all ran me off enough when I tried to engage more into the community of N&G AOTMs. This is vastly more important and I'm kinda sick of white guys asking us to stop talking about it.

There is a lot of privilege being shown here. I bet black people wish they could just not have to have this conversation at all.

Yes, I have received the records I bought from that sale. Did you get your RotM or nothing at all?
I don't think that's it because I did the same thing. They are shipping me one piece at a time from my orders which is costing them a lot more money... I don't have a membership anymore so I have no idea how they are shipping at the moment but it is definitely not for efficiency
I emailed CS and 20 minutes later got a reply from them to say that as it had been ordered at the same time as the Khruangbin pre-order they were being delayed until the pre-order was available. They have spilt the order for me and are sending the 2 sale items out now. So all good here, cheers for the heads-up guys!

Hey so I'll just suggest that if you want to continue a politics only discussion (devoid of connection to VMP) maybe head towards the politics page.

But I think these discussions are important and bleed into every aspect of life, so I'm not really comfortable moving posts or forcing anyone to keep quiet about this right now.

I dont think that racism is a political issue.

Their greatest mistake wasn’t changing customer service policy, moving platform or closing the forum. Getting rid of the awful poems on the back of the art prints was their greatest mistake. They made everything else in the package appear high in quality. Here’s two you can write on the back of the last two Essentials albums of the month for you completists. I do requests

Bella Donna - Stevie Nicks by Murfocakes

on a break from Lyndsey Buckingham
the spiteful nasty little man
pens perfect poems leather and lace
more than just a pretty face
stand back and bootylicious too
and the one Tom Petty did with you
Stevie your music hasn’t dated
your cover we have pixelated

The Stooges (Cale Mix) - The Stooges by Murfocakes

There was a young man called Ig
Who’s band wanted to get really big
They were produced by John Cale
Who ramped up his wail
But the record execs didn’t give a fig

I thank you...

I need one for Torres and Funkdafied

Hey team. I hope this doesn't stir the pot or anything, I certainly don't mean it to, but it seems like tensions are getting a bit high on this thread (for the obviously right reasons) but perhaps being aimed at individuals who are not deserving of it. What's happening at the moment is awful, and of course we should speak up about it and act, but there's no need for this anger to be aimed at people on this forum. I'm pretty sure we all agree that what is happening right now is horrible and not acceptable at all, and I haven't seen anything here today that proved that point to be wrong. Again, perhaps it's not my place to say these things, but I personally am grateful for all you guys on here and would hate to think people are feeling upset because of this. Much love.

I’m enjoying these posts and conversations about VMP staying silent on! @jaycee - you literally hit the nail on the head when you said

“The unwillingness to take on these types of minor burdens by parts of our society is part of the reason we find ourselves where we our today.”

Like, I love VMP so much but it’s upsetting me about how silent they’ve been! It’s wrong. And remember how quick they were to respond to that pressing plant burning down, by sending a message to everyone about how it will affect them!

I want them to make a statement and talk about this issue because like @Teeeee first said, the Classics and Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM tracks simply would not exist if it wasn’t for Black musicians. VMP literally would not be where they are today if it wasn’t for the art Black Americans make!

I am like teeeee and am unapologetic about this conversation going on here. I couldn’t give two fucks if people are going 🙄 because of us discussing this topic. We need change! VMP are liked to be seen as left-wing mentally and the most frustrating thing is that they have like 30,000 subscribers and are just keeping silent! They have to speak up!
