Steve & Theresa and Holy Hive (shout out to @Ghost for that one) are my two favorite discoveries recently.
So ridiculously good. Blown away. Not at all what I was expecting. Such a balm. It’s got such a great Joni Mitchell vibe. Probably why I love it.
Definitely grab the Steve & Teresa “Catching A Wave” exclusive! It’s dreamy, chilled, elegant, romantic, tropical folk music with some jazzy vocals! It’s also such a great deal for $23 and the colour variant looks sweet! Instant grab! ⛱🏝
My guess is coke bottle clear! They seem to have a lot of that laying around.Really starting to expect that the yellow and blue Dashboard Confessional one is just going to turn out to be a solid green record.
I must be missing something because I remember thinking this album was ridiculously over the top when it came out. I mean Screaming Infidelities and the making out lyric was something that always made me laugh out loud when I heard it.Dashboard is sold out. Wow.
Musically I would agree. Obviously Mayer is the far superior guitar player, no one would debate that. I would rather listen to Dashboard 100 out of 100 times though.I must be missing something because I remember thinking this album was ridiculously over the top when it came out. Not to rain anyone's parade (and I get nostalgia is a strong pull), but for all the hate that the Mayer pick got, musically this one is much worse IMHO.
It was music for teens with emotions. It’s not something I listen to much anymore but it was a pretty big deal at the time. Regardless of what you think of the end result there’s conviction to Dashboard Confessional that is completely lacking from any of Mayer’s work.I must be missing something because I remember thinking this album was ridiculously over the top when it came out. I downloaded like all the Dashboard mp3s from Napster on my Gateway desktop. It took me two days to download them. I can make you a mix CD with my favorite songs if you want.Musically I would agree. Mayer is the equivalent of a room temperature glass of water. It goes down like nothing, which is a problem. At least DBC is reaching for something even if it is silly high school nostalgia, Carraba wears it on his sleeve to a fault.

I think Swiss Army Romance was stuck in the aftermarket CD player of my 91 Mercury Topaz for a solid 6 months back in 2001. I did not go unnoticed.I downloaded like all the Dashboard mp3s from Napster on my Gateway desktop. It took me two days to download them. I can make you a mix CD with my favorite songs if you want.
Believe this man; he has had Novena On a Nocturn as his avatar since I’ve known him. He knows his shit. You take that back. Saints and Sailors is one of the best emo songs ever written.
What an amazing idea! I wanna have a kid just to do this!!!For those wondering what this is in reference to, I mentioned a few pages back that I picked up a copy of the Dashboard album for a box of records for my kids when they get older... I'll let them divide them as they wish.
There's about 30 albums in the box currently... off the top of my head:
Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool (colored... I think red?)
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme (clear)
B-52's - Cosmic Thing (RSD rainbow vinyl)
Flaming Lips - Clouds Taste Metallic (orange)
Rainer Maria - Long Knives Drawn (pink; this was a recommendation from Caithlin herself)
Robert Pollard - Not In My Airforce (yellow reissue w/ bonus 7")
Guided By Voices - Under the Bushes, Under the Stars (Newbury colored)
Junior Kimbrough - Up All Night (marbled pressing)
I'm placing an order this afternoon for some albums by The Ocean Blue for myself, and I'm going to pick up a copy of Between the Rhythm and the Sound on orange for the box.
Nothing like giving your children a box of sex appeal! What an amazing I wanna have a kid just to do this!!!
I would put these records in the box
Dr. Dre - The Chronic 2001
Britney Spears - Blackout
Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Michael Jackson - Off The Wall
Denzel Curry x Kenny Beats - UNLOCKED
Kaytranada - 99.9%
Clarence Clarity - No Now
Maxwell - Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite
The Avalanches - Since I Left You
100 Gecs - 1000 Gecs
KIDS SEE GHOSTS - KIDS SEE GHOSTS
Burial - Untrue
D’Angelo - Voodoo
I want the box to have really badass, edgy albums, with awesome production and some sex appeal!
Why not! And there’s different kinds of sex appeals in that box too! You have the clubbing, hot sex Blackout and FutureSexLoveSounds, the more intimate, soulful baby-making Voodoo and some classy, funky and groovy sex-like music; Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite!Nothing like giving your children a box of sex appeal!
I apologize for nothing. You take that back. Saints and Sailors is one of the best emo songs ever written.
I was 18 in the last semester of my senior year when it came out, so I get that I was probably a little old for it. I knew people who were super into it, but I just didn't get it.It was music for teens with emotions. It’s not something I listen to much anymore but it was a pretty big deal at the time. Regardless of what you think of the end result there’s conviction to Dashboard Confessional that is completely lacking from any of Mayer’s work.
