Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Then re-sub for 1 month if it's a title you absolutely need. I've spent $40+ on an album before that I really wanted. But the amount of money (and headaches) you'll save versus trying to convince yourself that you really need one of their ROTMs will be more than worth it. I'd be shocked if they do Channel Orange or Section 80 but if they do one of those, I may hop in for a month. This was the nail in the coffin for me though.
If VMP exclusively do Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange, Kanye West’s Graduation or Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80, then they will have so many subscribers (probably the most subscribers at once they’d ever have) for that single month, and then...💨 💨 💨, nothing after! 🤣

Not even that...nearly all Dead heads own every album in that set aside from Without A Net. So you've managed to price out people interested in getting into the band and also somehow priced out the people who have the disposable income to drop on a band they love because they already own it.
The only person this set was made for, was people like me. People who own no Dead and want the instant gratification of (hopefully) AP quality presses of all their big albums/popular live albums all in one place and are willing to pay AP prices for them.

So yeah, basically just assholes like me.
I AM THE PROBLEM

also think about this...

what other stuff beyond those albums do you get

a free trial of nugs... again deadheads LOVE live dead so they probably had a subscription and if not its because they use MQA

Storf Podcast.... lol

weekly streaming service, how long did it last.

and liners talking about how good dead are by a bunch of bands that yeah deadheads may like but not enough to get easy to obtain albums another time on boring colors

Yeah really this, they can’t afford to cut out their month to month sub so if they end up pressing/repressing records that are really worth the money then we’re able to hop back in and nab a copy and hop right back out. That’s just how it’s going to have to be. I stuck around a lot and convinced myself I needed the records they were curating and even when a month was a 3/3 dud I’d convince myself it’s time to grab something from the back stock that I really wouldn’t otherwise spend money on and that’s when they were priced at $23/track. I’m not mulling it over every month to figure out if I really want to swap for Jim Sullivan at $43 dollars! LMFAOOOHELLLLNO

who the hell decided on 7500 for a niche box set

if this was like the blue note anthology or something, yeah that makes sense, but for grateful dead that seems like hardcore overkill...

maybe they originally wanted 750 copies and they added in a 0
Like that time they were supposed to give me $30 in store credit for a warped record but instead gave me $300 by accident. It all makes sense now.

Are you devastated wynn72? Especially as you were so excited for the Pardner Me, Please track!?

Are you going to resubscribe when the Country track commences next year?!

I'm not really devastated at all. If you couldn't tell by my response, that was me in that tweet.

I saw this coming (though obviously not as high as 50%). At the end of the day, Vinyl is a hobby and a non-necessary guilty purchase that I like to spend my disposable income on. Music is pretty much now accessible to all cheaply via streaming services, no one has to pay for Vinyl and people should definitely vote with their wallets if they are fed up. For me personally my only real vices are dining out and Vinyl, and sometimes I spend far too much on both. The only thing that strongly bothers me with them is when something I spend money on, that is supposed to just bring me enjoyment in life, adds unnecessary stress (i.e. Their awful fulfillment practices and ridiculously long to non-existent CS responses).

I havent decided fully yet how this is going to effect me going forward with VMP, but I do know if a Vinyl Me Pardner track comes out I'm signing up for sure. What I'm thinking as of now is I will also almost definitely stay on board for Classics monthly.
Essentials will likely stay but be swapped more, as I can't be as free and loose about exclusive buying and RHH is the most likely to go for me, as it's not a genre I listen to as much as I'd like on wax anyway and I can just swap between that and Essentials when needed.
