If VMP exclusively do Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange, Kanye West’s Graduation or Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80, then they will have so many subscribers (probably the most subscribers at once they’d ever have) for that single month, and then... , nothing after! Then re-sub for 1 month if it's a title you absolutely need. I've spent $40+ on an album before that I really wanted. But the amount of money (and headaches) you'll save versus trying to convince yourself that you really need one of their ROTMs will be more than worth it. I'd be shocked if they do Channel Orange or Section 80 but if they do one of those, I may hop in for a month. This was the nail in the coffin for me though.
The only person this set was made for, was people like me. People who own no Dead and want the instant gratification of (hopefully) AP quality presses of all their big albums/popular live albums all in one place and are willing to pay AP prices for them. Not even that...nearly all Dead heads own every album in that set aside from Without A Net. So you've managed to price out people interested in getting into the band and also somehow priced out the people who have the disposable income to drop on a band they love because they already own it.
also think about this...Not even that...nearly all Dead heads own every album in that set aside from Without A Net. OMG DUKEY!!! I think you’re on the money there!maybe they originally wanted 750 copies and they added in a 0
Yeah really this, they can’t afford to cut out their month to month sub so if they end up pressing/repressing records that are really worth the money then we’re able to hop back in and nab a copy and hop right back out. That’s just how it’s going to have to be. I stuck around a lot and convinced myself I needed the records they were curating and even when a month was a 3/3 dud I’d convince myself it’s time to grab something from the back stock that I really wouldn’t otherwise spend money on and that’s when they were priced at $23/track. I’m not mulling it over every month to figure out if I really want to swap for Jim Sullivan at $43 dollars! LMFAOOOHELLLLNOThen re-sub for 1 month if it's a title you absolutely need. Like that time they were supposed to give me $30 in store credit for a warped record but instead gave me $300 by accident. It all makes sense now.who the hell decided on 7500 for a niche box set
if this was like the blue note anthology or something, yeah that makes sense, but for grateful dead that seems like hardcore overkill...

An Oral History Of VMP: Lost Sounds Found But Lost Againthere will be interesting articles in 10 years about a quality record club who imploded with misfire after misfire
And they’ll oversell it and offer folk store credit swaps. If VMP exclusively do Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange, Kanye West’s Graduation or Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80, then they will have so many subscribers (probably the most subscribers at once they’d ever have) for that single month, and then... , nothing after!
I was just telling someone that the story of VMP would make a great documentary.there will be interesting articles in 10 years about a quality record club who imploded with misfire after misfire
I mean...they have put out completely incorrect pressing numbers of their own releases before and didn't know until a member pointed it out hah.Like that time they were supposed to give me $30 in store credit for a warped record but instead gave me $300 by accident. It all makes sense now.
