Didn't we started this morning debating on IPA and/or Lager beers? BTW when it comes to wine, I prefer Bergerac wines to Bordeaux wines. I never say no to a good Château Les Tours des Verdots red wine.

That is when Bergerac wines are good. You have the same kind of wine as you have in Bordeaux except you are not overpaying your bottle because there is Bordeaux written on it. If you like sweety white wines I suggest a Montbazillac, if you prefer strong red wines then go with a Pécharmant. Both are amazing with duck meals, Montbazillac with Foie Gras and Pécharmant with a Magret.

I tend to prefer heavy reds or dry whites, I’m not a huge fan of sweet whites.

Portuguese wines are so underrated. I am not saying this because I am Portuguese but because it's true. You can find French (of course), Italian and Spanish wines everywhere but not Portuguese. Like Fado for music, Port wine causes some damages to the wine industry in Portuguese. Everybody thinks Portuguese wines are sweet and shouldn't be served with food (which is wrong for port wine too btw). Douro area offers the best wines but you can also look for Alentejo wines. You better like strong red wines though. One of my favourite Douro wine is Poeira or, cheaper but as good as Poeira, Pó de Poeira.

Omg, that’s amazing!!! That’s so cool! I heard the countryside in Portugal is so beautiful! It’s where I want to go to the most, even though the coastline is where most the tourists go to! Portuguese people are so lovely, I’ve worked with a few of them and they all love talking about travelling and food too! 😊♥️

I'll note this one for my next trip to Portugal. Last time I came home with a box of Ramos Pinto's Duas Quintas 2016 that are really nice as well.

Hunter was all day so stuck to the samples and the bottles I bought were for later. A couple of Canadians were on the tour with us, they bought wine for drinking on the day at each vinyard and they were already wasted by the time we sat down for lunch. I was nicely steaming at the end of the day lol!

Devon was in the village my friend lives in and there were a few of us over visiting. We walked down spend the morning in the vineyard and the evening drinking the same wine in the pub, that was messy. Surprisingly there are some really nice whites grown and made down in Devon and Cornwall, they don’t quite have the climate to being getting into reds though.

Yeah Portuguese lands are not well known. As you said most of the tourists go down south to the Algarve region. It's definitely not the area I prefer, it doesn't look Portuguese if you know what I mean. Evora for example is one of the most beautiful Portuguese city but only Spanish tourists go there (it's 1h far from the boarder)

A couple of years ago my gf and I drove all along the coast from Coimbra to Faro. We discovered a small village called Odeceixe and we decided that we would retire there if we ever have a chance to retire one day. To get there you must leave the main road from Lisbon, take a small road and follow the river and there you are: a small village with a very small beach stuck between two cliffs and a mix of pure water from the river and salt water from the sea. Best place on earth.

I second Douro and Alentejo wines.
My wife loves vinho verde, they are absolutely delicious and wonderful for the Summer.
