Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

My last day to decide if I'm going to bite on their $300 one year blood money offer. I've got a locked swap in for the Serve You Right To Suffer. $25 a month is logical and practical.

But I'm also leaning toward "f u c k Storf"
I was in the same situation. I decided to leave rather than take the bridge deal; even though the price for the deal is good and there are records in the pipeline that I would like. I went back and forth in my mind for a couple of weeks, vacillating between the two choices.

Ultimately, I reasoned it as: Should I accept an ice pack from the company that just punched me in the nose?

That is where I am at as well. I'm also asking myself how many of these records am I spinning once and saying "oh that's nice" and putting on the shelf for years? I'm glad to get some validation. Why should I be happy to have the one time chance to pay up front the privelage of saving two dollars a month?

I decided to beg off. I am going to go month to month and pop in if there is something I have to have. I have had a $30 credit for months now and have not been tempted by any of their exclusives.

Same - including being locked in for John Lee Hooker. Actually, putting out 3 months worth of titles is tilting me away from reupping. I like the Oct classics title, but given it wasn't something I was that familiar with I don't need to have it immediately on vinyl. Otherwise, it made me realize there are other titles outside of these that I'd rather spend my money on over the next few months.

I went with: I just don't need any of these records this much (or any record really). When I started collecting vinyl it wasn't about the FOMO, and VMP's main offering if you read between the lines is FOMO relief. I have no fear of missing out anymore, so I don't need the "relief" they sell.

I don’t even think it’s an ice pack more an ice pick - They are trying to make customers paying 12 month lump sums for a better price seem like an excellent deal. “we need cash and doing it this way makes you grateful to give it us”
or - no thanks i can curate my own albums for the next 12 months and receive little to no shipping delays and far less issues in quality control.

Looking forward to seeing what the store drops are! 🙇‍♂️👀😇🦦
Are we expecting any more Black Jazz releases? I saw that there was a 'sold out' bundle option for the 3 already released so I'm thinking that's it now?

What has thrown me off is that VMP have released 2 (Kellee Patterson - Maiden Voyage & Roland Haynes - 2nd Wave) which were not mentioned in the Real Gone Music Black Jazz reissue series. The Real Gone Music label are/have releasing/released Gene Russell - New Direction (the RSD release), Doug Carn - Spirit of the New Land, The Awakening - Hear, Sense and Feel, and the Walter Bishop Jr. - Coral Keys (which VMP have released as an exclusive).

Edit: just seen that the description for Roland Haynes is 'Our third and final collaboration'.

I have both Kellee and Roland (standard blk) on pre-order from Amazon.ca so VMPs are only colour variant exclusives

Yeah I figured they would be (works out cheaper for me so was hoping there would be a few more).

Looks like I will hunt down affordable standard copies of Doug Carn - Spirit of the New Land, and The Awakening - Hear, Sense and Feel.

Yes, they are the only three Black Jazz reissues VMP are doing! I expect a Black Jazz album to a future Classics ROTM!

Going with Prep and Savage. 300 of each, Savage apparently comes with a signed art print, and basically the same price as other places online if you factor in shipping

Check dodax from time to time, I purchased two Black Jazz reissues for 21,99€ shipped each.

EDIT: Maiden Voyage is one of them, the other is Coral Keys.

Officially on the hook for a year now. Luckily my company was kind enough to surprise everyone with a “profit sharing” bonus today, so great timing.

Its nice to know its taken care of for a year besides add on tracks. Scared to see how many and what they add for those next year.
Awesome you got the bonus! 👏👏👏🕺

I’m happy to see people subscribing for 12 months; means that VMP are likely to stay around for a long time! 🙏

I kinda thought no one would ever dare to do that again after many thought VMP wasn’t going to last, but it now seems like people are confident that VMP will stay around! 🤗
