Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

The postal system is in general. I sent one express to Poland that I sold on Discogs and it took almost 8 weeks! Plus anything from the U.K., as opposed to the rest of Europe, is extra fucked because brexshit
Yea I ordered from JPC a few weeks ago and it shipped but haven't gotten anything yet and I don't think there's tracking on it.

No there isn’t. My jpc are taking about a fortnight Germany to Ireland so I’d be surprised if you’re not looking at double that minimum.

The question then is

Is a Plain 45 preferable to a Fat Possum 33? Because the price for 2LPs isn’t insane.

My guess is everything is preferable to all plain pressings!
Well from what I've seen of the more recent FP stuff, they've finally gotten on the "audiophile" bandwagon and started hiring guys like KPG. This one is Alchemy so depending on pressing plant (totally gunna be GZ) I think this should be a decent re release.

Yeah it’ll probably be similar to the VMP. Crackly and filthy dirty but after a few washes it’s actually a decent pressing. Spiritualized are only ever going to be so dynamic given their style and era so it’s not going to need to be audiophile perfection just clean and not a plain.

Welp, I've cancelled my Classics swap (swapped to Room on Fire). VMP better come through on the Spiritualized now. I was honestly on the fence about Room on Fire anyway...may just find a copy of Is This It for my Strokes fix.

The MOV or the white from last year, which is the MOV plates, is good for Is This It. Not audiophile perfection but it’s the strokes so I’m doubtful that exists or even that if it did that it wouldn’t remove something from them.

Non related question: my local record store has been getting a ton of interesting albums lately, but it seems like a large percentage of them are Wax Time. From what I've read Wax Time is pretty much pressing low quality CDs to vinyl and/or skirting around copyright laws...anyone can confirm that?

Yes. Wax time is a grey market euro label. Copyright laws are very lax in the EU so these companies often buy the rights to random CD pressings and use those as sources to press to vinyl. Stay far away from them. Wax Time and DOL are two of the bigger offenders but there are a bunch of others.

Thanks. Pretty much what I've read but nice to confirm. Kind of disappointing that my local seems to be buying Wax Time in bulk.

Sensible more like. U.K. is and EU is life plus 70 which is plenty! Whilst I don’t like the quality of grey label music copywrite shouldn’t exist forever and ever once the artist has departed us.

Mine does too. They buy them because they sell, especially to newer vinyl purchasers. I think even Rough Trade here stocks them. Around here, they are usually $10-$12 for a lot of classic albums so people buy them up left and right not knowing about the sources.
