Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I agree, I Want You is superior, especially vocally! Marvin Gaye’s passionate, lustful, sexy vocals really are intoxicating!

I Want You is a top 20 album of all-time for me however! And I think the subtle, smooth, complex and intricate musical arrangements on Musical Massage are nothing but sensational! Leon Ware’s falsetto and crooning still hits the spot and I love how the instrumentation on Musical Massage is very much at the forefront with Leon’s vocals being the ‘tasty massage’!

Musical Massage just oozes with so much goodness! Marvin Gaye’s I Want You is a better album, no doubt! But Musical Massage is just ohhhh......soooooo.....freaking good! 😩😩😩
Honestly really wanted to like this but man was it not for me. I'd read a book about it though as I found looking into the history really interesting... well... maybe a chapter in a book. Turns out I'm too sexy for Milan, New York and Japan but not sexy enough for Leon Ware albums. Ah Nuts!

Same, I REALLY wanted to like this after passing on Frederick Knight last month, same with the wife...but it just didn't take hold as much as we'd like. Ended up going with Cudi, Cash and using a swap for Tough Guys which I've been mildly regretting not picking up. Had a fourth track but cancelled that and used the money for Spriritualized today. Hoping the next three months of classics are a bit stronger. Last "knocked it out of the park" pick for me was Hathaway.

Initially I really liked Musical Massage, but as time has passed my interest in it has definitely waned and I’m at the point where I don’t think I really need it in my collection. It’s not bad by any means, but I swapped for Billie Holiday. I feel like I’d listen to that record way more often.

This is the first time I’ve passed on two Classics in a row... really hoping they step it up a bit on the next three picks.

I hope the day comes that the Jazz Dispensary releases are in swaps. $45 is way overpriced. I did buy Axelrod as soon as it came out b/c I am a big Axelrod fan...and I used credit to reduce the price of Idris...but no way can I justify $45 on the others (IMO).

For me, the Leon Ware is far & away the best ROTM this month. I've never connected with Cudi like others around my age & younger did, although I understand the significance of the album to many. The E&A is a nice little album from that era of underground hip hop, and it's great it's been reissued as the original pressing is scarce & expensive. But it's not an album that I've had the urge to listen to in many years. And I've really never been interested in country music altogether.

I think Leon Ware is fantastic though, but I'm also a sucker for 70s soul.

They were in swaps a few months ago. Not sure if they’ll make a return appearance.

*Note to self - do not let @Rowan or @Mather borrow my records*
This whole conversation had me thinking that the only time I've accidentally damaged a record was the one time I dropped my Only Built 4 Cuban Linx and created a small scratch that still plays through fine...I proceeded to immediately ding my Aretha Franklin Atlantic Singles Rhino pressing. This conversation is cursed.

I think it's fine...hopefully.

Spiritualized is pricy but reasonable through Bandcamp. So I will pay extra to continue to not be a member of VMP. Plus if I buy it Friday then Jason gets a few more bucks out of it hopefully.
I went with Fat Possum site, used a 20% off code and came in under VMP's member price (and I'm not a member).
$28.50 USD shipped for white. And I got the download link for digital files already.

🚨 Only 17 copies left of Galt MacDermot’s The Nucleus!!! 🚨

This is an AAA reissue, played at QRP and remastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, so this exclusive will sound fantastic! Only USD$25 if you’re a member as well! If you’re on the fence, I suggest getting this exclusive as it’ll sound glorious and will be a very enjoyable album to spin on the turntable! 😎👌

Almost pulled a trigger, but then I remembered I already bought it. :ROFLMAO:

Do you ever get one that sounds like ass while spinning on your turntable? Just curious because you always say it will be enjoyable :)
