My retirement fund went ages ago but I’m living week to week at the moment because I’m renting now and constantly dine out. I’m going to be managing my money better in the future though! I’ve been barely buying vinyl too, because it’s so expensive living outside of home! 😭 It is good fun though, especially as my housemate is really sweet and the constant great food is a blessing! 🙏

I’ve got around $2,000 in my retirement fund now and I wish I could just take it out to put aside for my rent so then I have more flexibility to splurge on vinyl and clothes and doing a road trip to Sydney etc

Dang! Knew you would’ve loved MAYA because it’s such a left-field, distorted, wild, industrial, volatile, explosive album......and it’s a mosh pit album too 😈💥🤘!

Good thing that normal copies of the album are cheap, and the pressing for it sounds great! Still, wish I got the VMP variant though as it looks great and I love MAYA so much! I prefer Arular though, so I’m really, really happy I managed to get an exclusive copy of it! ♥️

I'm with you, but it's over unfortunately. They've sold both albums in no time, and they'll be okay doing it the next time they get a decent store drop. FOMO is a strong motivator to pay way too much money for things, especially vinyl. It just takes one look at /r/vinylreleases/ and /r/vinylmeplease/ to know this is a losing battle.

I know USD$40 is expensive for a double LP that isn’t an audiophile release, but even if this coloured release wasn’t limited, I still would’ve purchased it straight away, especially with the free shipping! Arular is a masterpiece and I love the album to bits! My brother and sister adore the album too and the neon colour variants are gorgeous and they couldn’t have picked two more fitting colours! For me, it was well worth the USD$40! I’d rather pay less, but the same goes for when I purchase MoFi and Analogue Productions pressings, as well as Classics VMP pressings which are (after tax) USD$36 for a single LP!

I think, although expensive, the pricing for those coloured variants of MAYA and Arular was ok!

You know, back in the old days if an artist I didn't really know came up as a VMP exclusive I'd have a punt on them. About a year or two ago I decided I wasn't buying blind and would stream first. Nowadays I just let them pass me by. 40 fucks is a hefty price to pay in case you like something where the old 20 bucks days seemed more reasonable... Such is commerce, inflation and record retail I suppose

Same as. Sadly I’m spending more than ever on vinyl because some fuckers keeps repressing old shit I already knew I liked....
 
So, I’m on my work break now and the weather is so shit; it’s raining and windy and I’m dreading picking up rubbish in these conditions! But you know what, I can’t stop smiling and I just want to jump up and down because I’m so ecstatic that I’ll have beautiful colour variants of M.I.A.‘s two masterpieces; Arular and Kala! I honestly just cannot wait to have these in my hand and look at them and treasure them and blast them (apartment has very good walls for sound proof thank god!)! 🕺

I was already over the moon knowing that Kala is getting the Essentials treatment but having being able to grab that super attractive neon Arular variant that just dropped today really makes it all special! Soooooo happy! 😁😁😁

The Arular store drop is my absolute favourite store drop since Ali Farka Touré! And OH MY GOODNESS...imagine spinning that Ali Farka Touré, which is like music meditation and then spinning Arular which is all explosive, loud bangers!!! 👀😍

I’m with you! I also took a punt, especially during late 2018 and all of 2019 if I didn’t know an artist but vibed a single from them! I can’t afford to do that anymore and I only purchase releases I really like!

I’m not sure I’ll grab that Willie Nelson ROTM! I got paid today and I’m really happy with how much I earnt, but I’m still not going to splurge on vinyl and stick to only purchasing releases I love!

I know! I was asleep when MAYA sold out, but paid just in time for the Arular exclusive, which is the album I prefer too, although I love MAYA so much too! 🧨

Even though I hate my job, waking up at 3:55am does have its perks! 🙊
