Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

@TCell IIRC you were swapping you main track to store credits. I did the same last month, and again this month, but haven't received anything. From what I read store credits is added at the beginning of the month. How does it work exactly?
I do. (Blew most of my credits on the Spiritual Jazz bundle recently).
It looks like @MikeH and @jamieanderson1968 explained it well already. If they're not there email CS.

Anyone else just get a ship notice for a $0 Best of Ivy replacement?
No, but it's usually something they do when there's a pressing wide issue. Maybe a typo on the jacket if it's not with the vinyl itself?

EDIT: Looking at the discog reviews I see the issue. Seems like the pressing plant fucked up the run, and it's off-centre.

Yeah, it’s been a pretty wide complaint. Just hadn’t heard anything about them addressing it, just a replacement out of the blue, several months after the fact.

Are you on discord? Apparently this is where they make their announcements now instead of I dunno....emails and stuff.

okay, so can confirm the process changed. You hit that link and it says pick your record(s) then it adds it to the list of stuff coming in your next box.

I'm sure lots of people missed the email because it didn't look like it was different than any other vmp stuff is coming email, I figured it was gonna remind me to get the code or whatever.

Ultimately, this is easier than using a code, but the messaging is a little off.

Yeah. I renewed for my second 3 months under the promo in July, and I was a little disappointed they didn't still use the code. You could save the code until something interesting showed up (the original email said it expired in December, I think), but now you have to choose before the end of the month. They say if you don't, then CS may help you out but that the freebie(s) aren't guaranteed if you miss the window. I decided to avoid a drawn-out process with CS and just go ahead and choose something.

I mean, I'm not that bummed about not being able to save it, there is plenty of stuff I'll take for free. Just wish the messaging had been a little clearer like "Important Bonus Record Update" or something instead of "Last Chance for Free Records is Around the Corner" which sounds as does the email's body that the promotion is coming to a close when it isn't.

Dirty Projectors is probably still available

They changed this because the old coupon code had some workarounds people were exploiting. The code was actually for up to a certain amount off, so you could add 4 and sometimes 5 records in and still get them for free even if you only were eligible for 3. Seems like they originally did that because they wanted people to be able to use the coupon at any time. But then moved over to this “choose now” system to combat that

A bit bummed myself. I was debating doing a year sign up in November but don’t even think there are 8 records I want or need left in the list. Have most of the records I want from the past few years from them

I just went through the list to figure out what I'd choose if I do re-up in September.

For sure:
HBMS-White People
Usher-My Way
Young Fathers-Heavy Heavy
Iris Dement-infamous Angel
Clem Snide-Ghost of Fashion

Artists I like that I need to listen to these albums to decide:
Hold Steady-Price of Progress
Indigo De Souza-All of this...
New Pornographers-Continue As A Guest...

Albums I own, but would upgrade maybe:
Interpol
Bright Eyes Xmas

Both Clem Snides are FANTASTIC if they are both still there. Kevin Gray cuts. Young Fathers is awesome. And i really enjoy the Iris Dement.

You guys that can’t find three or eight records are either picky or buy a shit ton more records than I do. I get one a quarter and usually get it down to about five I really want these and then pro con them until I pick one.
I've gotten a lot of VMPs over the years through buying them direct, on cogs/ebay or PIFs so I have most of the ones i REALLY want. I also didn't really wanna use my freebies on the records that are store exclusives that I can get for cheaper elsewhere, although that's probably dumb if I'd listen to them. Felt silly to use a freebie on a $20 record. There are quite a few things I'd maybe get but just might not spin a lot, so trading in or selling them might be a better move for me if I do decide to re-up.

This is what I got in my freebies last month--was holding onto the code until Brown Sugar went into the free stuff. Added 4 to my cart as I went through the list and when I added the coupon code, the total rang up as $4 so I kept it...
