I don't understand why they chose to only press 500 of this but 1000 of Caribou...
Maybe because of the existing pressings of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga - but they could've easily sold 1000.
I'm wondering if Merge will be doing some own exclusives for their Anniversary...

True; but we know where we stand with Amazon, they’re a huge mega evil corp and we deal with them on that level. Also we all know that they clearly use dynamic pricing so no price is ever guaranteed, they constantly move depending on stock levels and demand. Their prices aren’t mistakes as such. We know we are dealing with the devil.

VMP acted like our friends inviting us to their club and sold and built FOMO off the back off it. It’s made the last 6 months to a year much harder to swallow.

I’ll be honest, I don’t think the comparison works.

VMP FOMO is stupid! I only buy vinyl I know I will actually play! Waste of money otherwise!

But yeah, in the end you don’t need the VMP exclusive of Spoon’s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. I’m sure the standard pressing sounds great! I just really like that this is 180g, pressed at RTI and the colour variant looks great! And I’m happy it’s a single LP too! It’s perfect for me 😊

I’ve only been following since the Nicole Atkins AOTM. I got that one and enjoyed spinning it! It was a great pick!

I’m trying to find Camarón De La Isla’s La Leyenda Del Tiempo but I can’t find a new copy of it for under AUD$60. I love that album so much and am sure it will receive another reissue/pressing in the near future. I’m so happy I discovered that album through the N&G AOTM! It is simply a brilliant AOTM pick!!!

Check back, there have been some good albums earlier too! I’m sure you’d love the Mike de Clive-Lowe album @Skalap picked and you should check out the Lou Reed record @Murfocakes picked. Knowing your taste the khemmis record @Goatfish picked might be a bit heavy but you should give it a steam all the same!

BTW I’m picking next months record and I have a very special treat in store for everyone so check back in on November 1st after @ThePakoBuelna undoubtably classy pick this month!

You are missing out if you aren't familiar with Spoon. I wouldn't say they are experimental rock, did VMP say that?



Not for everyone but I think they have an excellent, impressively consistent catalog with enough variety that people have completely different top 3 album lists.

All of their reissues are high quality and affordable as a plus. Unless something has changed with them recently.

FWIW: The remastered 10th anniversary edition comes with a bonus disc, gatefold, was pressed by Pallas and can be had for less than $20 new.

The colored mock up does look sharp. I hope it turns out looking that good when they're pressed.

I’ve been following the Needles&Grooves forum closely. I just wasn’t familiar with the genre and clues on @agutierrezb guess thread. I really liked the clues but I know agutierrezb was going to pick an album I have never heard! I knew it was going to be a new discovery! And man, were those clues AMAZING!!!!! The effort agutierrezb put into his AOTM was exceptional and I’m in love with him ☺

Agutierrezb really set the bar high with his Camarón De La Isla AOTM pick and with his clues + booklet + overall contribution!

I’m already looking forward to @ThePakoBuelna AOTM! As it’s likely a Japanese artist/band, I’m probably not going to be able to guess. But I love reading all the posts on the thread!

You have no clue how excited I am for your AOTM Joe!!! I am sure it will be an album I will immensely love as I always look up to your music taste when it comes to music in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s in particular! Can’t wait to be cheeky in your AOTM thread too 😈😂

Honestly didn’t read anything on VMP about them because I wasn’t interested. I just googled them when @NathanRicaud was pushing and that’s the wiki description.

Can I be honest, I appreciate your input but right now I’m just not in the mood for that type of music. Instead I’m feeling much more excited about a really weird combination of both very straight folk and full on pop music and I also have €100 of classical cds/sacds sat in a basket on presto classical waiting for me to get the courage to just hit the button...

Gatefold is better! Definitely. But I don’t want the bonus disc, as I wouldn’t even spin that. And I don’t think the colour would be as stunning as the VMP mock up. And because I live in Australia, I don’t get the same prices as you. Shipping costs are bad, and when vinyl comes to Australia, it’s usually AUD$34.99 minimum for a new release/reissue in the stores.

And VMP have great customer service too! I don’t want to buy online, like on Amazon, and then it’s a pain to return etc (if I receive a faulty/warped copy).

Yeah, I am sure it will sound great and I can appreciate the shipping situation, plus you already bought it. My comment was more for anyone that might be bummed for missing out on the VMP edition.
