Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

It's a trainwreck and a pile up, but here's the post. You'll have to click through to read the comments.

Wow, I’m one of the people who have yet to be a victim of VMPs incompetence but this was incredibly well articulated and illuminating for someone who’s on the outside of most of the issues that plague VMP. Give em hell Dead, the way they posture themselves towards their userbase is incredibly bizarre and makes you wonder if anyone is actually using their brain over there. When it comes to making decisions.

Just asking questions

Hey @Dead C , this guy sure is giving VMP a lot of credit, he just makes me laugh over on the Reddit lol
Logistically, these guys have to consider distribution channels, sell-throughs, re-order points, inventory mgt systems as normally run in their warehouse, cost-benefit analysis and several other factors. Top that into the fact that (as I mentioned before), their entire workflow is disrupted.

...........hahaha, is this guy for real???
I can't order anything on my account, membership shows inactive (and has since migration started). I may have lost out on all 3 December tracks which I wanted. I'm also waiting for albums I purchased 7 months ago. But, I'm not overthinking and chasing scenarios. I'm, literally, just waiting to see how it goes because it's beyond my control and no amount of emailing VMP or over analyzing it on the forum is going to change that. So, I'm chilling.

Yea, I suppose that is true. I feel like I read something pretty direct this last time though like there would be three drops in a row. Then 2 did drop, but no third...

the third will probably be an AOTM that will require a 3 month commitment. Then you'll buy an exclusive you think you need, it'll inevitably get delayed and you'll find yourself still a member next July.

You know what was a better run small business? The Michael Scott paper company.
At least the Michael Scott Paper Company was sold off to a bigger company before it turned into a total mess for the customers.

I honestly think it’s totally intentional and they prefer to cling to their classic “what do I know?” excuse instead of putting someone out there who would actually have the answers, because nine times out of ten the answers are pretty shit too
And 9 times out of 10 they are giving different answers to different people.

FWIW, not an "official" statement - the post was made by me, after the other mods and I (who are not officially affiliated with, or obligated to, anyone at VMP) decided it was the best course of action. It's not in any way written or endorsed by VMP themselves
good to know. I assumed they moderated their own reddit, and took that as an official statement...my bad

I don't know much about BBB, but it looks like VMP is ranked A+ - lol.

I believe BBB has to receive direct complaints to lower their rating? Someone else may know.

I remember SoundstageDirect on BBB toward the end was a killing field

Edit: they explain a bit about their ratings Overview of BBB Ratings | Better Business Bureau®

Literally the only time I ever checked BBB was because of SoundstageDirect. I even left a comment! I was so pissed with that situation. I haven’t heard anything since though once I finally got my money back through PayPal.

Yea I was lucky. I know a lot of people got burned with them. And they were awesome...till they weren’t. I had a bunch of Prince pre-orders with them when there were supposed to be REs of Black Album, Batman, Graf Bridge, Lovesexy that never ended up happening. I canceled them not bc I heard anything was happening with SSD but cause I had those pres for like a year and started hearing they weren’t gonna happen. I had to follow up once after initial request to get my refund but I didn’t smell trouble then. Next time I went to get something from them it redirected to ReverbLP. Then I saw all the craziness on BBB, Hoffman, etc

Wow! Some people are just well... Wow! That said you can but take the horse to water...

If you haven't, you should try to wade through our whole convoluted back and forth. That's the most coherent he'd been the whole time. To find it, you have to scroll to the bottom, though. He was downvoted until it was hidden.

He literally told me that all signs indicated there are probably only 5 people with the Mobb Deep shipping issue and they had "several hundred" albums between them. He also said that anyone who only received a couple of albums extra wouldn't get that email asking to send them back, even though people in the thread already mentioned that's exactly happened to them. I'm actually one of them.
