Irma Thomas arrived today, but still inexplicably no shipping yet for Blazing Arrow.
Local Natives was the exact same for me. They just seemed to jump on the bandwagon and do a bland Los Angeles lukewarm version of the "indie rock" sound that was hip at the time, with other bands doing it WAY better.Local Natives were one of those late aughts early 20’s bands that just never did anything for me. Same goes for Real Estate.
Tame Impala was in this group as well but have finally warmed to some of the earlier records.
I think Currents is Tame Impala’s best album!Local Natives was the exact same for me. They just seemed to jump on the bandwagon and do a bland Los Angeles lukewarm version of the "indie rock" sound that was hip at the time, with other bands doing it WAY better.
That said, love me some Real Estate though haha! Earlier Tame Impala is fire too. IMO the new record is a lot better than his last but I really miss the breezy guitar psych of that first EP and debut Innerspeaker.
I love Local Natives and can’t stand Fleet Foxeslistened to a couple songs on it
its ok
a bit too obviously fleet floxes inspired
I love both!I love Local Natives and can’t stand Fleet Foxes
Yea when I listen to Local Natives- Gorilla Manor I usually just go “why would I listen to this when I can listen to Fleet Foxes do it way better”
It's funny, for some reason I have put off buying it on black. Then I got that swap and was glad I waited, only to be told no dice haha.Meh, got a shipping notice for everything but Bandana and no credit email yet. Doesn't look promising. I might just have to buy it on standard ol black.
the recently re-released debut of laura nyro is great, tooI still haven't bought a single new album in 2020... It's really not been my year thus far. Was looking forward to Disq and Caroline Rose, but despite a few nice songs these aren't must-buy albums for me. But it's also because I've been massively distracted by other music lately; I've lately been discovering Laura Nyro's Eli and Tendaberry albums, the first 2 Rickie Lee Jones albums and the whole David Ackles discography for the very first time and I'm totally captivated; right up to the point that I can hardly listen to something else at the moment. Since I discovered these super late I'm obviously more than open for suggestions based on these artists and records
Weird, until people started saying it, I never mentally made a comparison with Local Natives to Fleet Foxes.
I thought they had more in line at the time with things like Wild Nothing, Peter Bjorn & John, The Shins, and Surfer Blood. PARTICULARLY Surfer Blood, actually... not just the reverb drenched vocals, but because of the extra percussion. Having an auxiliary percussionist to a traditional rock band format seemed to be a thing 10 years ago.

Oh yes thx, that VMP-exclusive was the reason I even wrote in this thread. Should‘ve been an Essential release IMO.the recently re-released debut of laura nyro is great, too
I spent my last vmp credits on it and i don`t regret it.Glad to read this as I swapped Patrice for Laura Nyro this month.
Is there any discount code that's still working?
