And that's fine. It's fine to have our personal tastes. But what I'm speaking to is about an ongoing pattern, which much bigger than you and your choice in this instance. But, at the same time also connected to you and your choices (all of us and our choices).

That's an interesting take. I'm willing to admit that Cecil Taylor's Unit Structures might be art, but I ain't gonna listen to it. It's just noise to me, no matter how many articles I read extolling its virtues.

Also, on the subject of reviewers, they listen to a lot of stuff that all starts to blend together after a while. I think it's the same with movies, books, and tv. If you consume a lot of one time type of media, it all just averages out to kind of mediocre. So, when something New and Original comes along that is unlike the rest of the stuff they've been experiencing, they tend to overrate it just because the Different is so pleasing to them.

I'm also of a mind that collecting and playing vinyl in the 21st century is an inherently pretentious thing to do and so it's pretty hard for a record club not to be. I'm fine with it :)

My swaps last month never closed. Then the order just went out of my history. Now it's back..... I got my stuff in a very timely manner and in great shape. Who knows what's going on with the info on the site. It means something. Not sure what, but SOMETHING, just not necessarily what you are getting or when.

Agreed. Good music should be shared against popular demand if you are going to take up that line of leadership as a goal. It's only a problem if you are acting as though your High and Mighty opinion is the one that counts on what's good and why you MUST like it. Or, if you are acting like a benefactor or "gate-keeper" as you said, rather than simply providing an opportunity for a worthy musician current or past.

Personally, good music? I like it. It's just difficult in an arena like music, because taste is so personal.

Also, I quite like this. I’m fairly certain I bought this from FOMO and I’m pretty pleased right now.
 
Idiots. There is a post a few pages back where he said it wasn’t holding up a package and the package would go out in a couple of days and then Weyes would come in next week. You guys better hope a hurricane doesn’t come along to delay it not even leaving till August.
