Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Sleigh bells is very expensive and long OOP at least
I have a copy. I’m good. I wouldn’t say it’s “long out of print” I know the Discogs page say 2011 or something but it’s been repressed since. I didn’t pick up my copy until 2017…

And that was after a long run where it had been out of print and the prices on Discogs had climb pretty high. I think it’s become hard to find again but my guess is VMP weren’t doing a repress Mom+Pop woulda been doing another run soon regardless.

that's coming upon 8 years ago though, which is kinda a life time for vinyl being OOP. i haven't obsessively checked this one, but have looked on and off the past 2-3 years since my sister in law got a record player and wanted it and haven't seen it anywhere outside of higher priced used on ebay/discogs.

Yeah, It needs a repress and It’s a good record. It’s just not like Demon Days or Songs For The Deaf.

My guess is this is gonna be the way they subsist for the time being. Repressing OOP stuff from indie labels with a few months lead time before labels put out cheaper wide release pressings of their own. I bet by the end of the year we’ll be able to order Psychic Chasm, Tender Buttons, and Treats via Amazon for like $26 a pop.

well you can already order Tender Buttons for around $20 shipped, it's just the old cut which people have said sounds great.

I'll definitely be interested to see if the Neon Indian is the same cut as the wide release in a few months...not saying that a VMP is worth a $40 price increase at all...but if the wide release stinks and the VMP is great sounding for $40 (monthly price of a 3 month sub with the JOINTHECLUB20 code)...then I'd get the VMP if it's an album I like a lot.

Yeah, I am not opposed to this approach overall. I always support grabbing the best sounding version of a record you love.

It’s just tougher to justify going in blind given their recent releases (fairly mediocre) combined with the knowledge that a comparable release for half the price and none of the risk is likely right around the corner.

What are the odds VMP goes under this year?
I'd like to know when a media entity will dig in and report on orders going unfulfilled for close to a year in the case of some releases and expose the state of the entire operation. Generally, when someone orders something and a year later, has no idea if/when they'll receive it, you begin hearing words used like "fraud" or something similar.

They are doing a lot of the things Bandbox did before they went under that’s for sure.

*preorders going unfulfilled. I don’t think the media particularly cares about maybe a few hundred people who ordered some records and haven’t gotten them yet

They bought some time with the plant closing but now it’s just excuse after excuse that really just don’t add up. Apparently Warner doesn’t have anybody working in December to release the albums VMP ordered 🙄 I doubt I’ll see the ALS box at this point.

Yeah I agree with @MikeH I just don’t think they’re big enough fry unless it’s something local in Denver or specifically physically released music related.
