Vinyl Storage Recommendation

For those using Ikea Expedit & Kallax I'm looking for some ideas on what to use for back stopping the Lp's in there individual cubes ?

I use these. I have an older version, which is just clear plastic like material, these new ones look way nicer. They work well though.

I just buy some cheap outside corner molding from Home Depot and cut to size. Works great.

with some lumber prices doubling recently thats the way I am leaning. And I can easily hand saw them and clean up the ends with sandpaper. Did you glue, 3m adhesive, velcro, or other in place ?

Oh my, I was thinking about ordering the clear plastic ones, but I like those wood ones much better, and the price is the same. Sold!

Yeah agreed. I bought mine like a week before they announced these which was kind of disappointing. But once they are in you can't see them anyway, so I can live with it (at least this is what I tell myself) :)

I used velcro, but if you pull records in and out enough times I've found that it pulls free after a while. I think this weekend I'll replace with either adhesive or wood screws.

we will have a move at some point in the future and have to dissemble my Expedit, so I need to keep mine temporary the best way I can. Perhaps 3M Dual Lock.

I have the clear ones as well and agree, you can’t see them once the cubes are full of records. Plus if the wood colors don’t match that would probably bother me more than the clear!

In the summer of 2018 my collection-- roughly 500-600 records, sporadically warped with no clear pattern. Sent me into a 6 month depression and I've basically left my records untouched since. Largely because I'm still in the same LA apartment that gets hot in the summer and whose floors aren't quite level. And also because I'm lower middle class and so it felt like I had just spent a half decade lighting $$$ on fire.

I was completely stumped at the time, but have concluded since that the "6 inch" leg that I bought premade from Home Depot and attached to the middle of my Ikea Noras may have been a fraction of a mm taller than the other legs-- which combined with how hot my (no central AC) apartment gets in the era of climate change and the non-level floors...may be the source of the problem. (I had been in this apartment for 2 years before the problem started and had the storage unit the whole time-- but attached the leg at the beginning of 2018 because the middle of it was threatening to sag from all the weight).

Been digging through this thread for alternative options because some of the ones that were warped have unwarped and others that weren't have warped. So I'm thinking if I can get a better shelf and ensure it's 1000% level than maybe they will unwarp? Only a couple of the warps are extremely bad.

That said, It's proving very difficult to find a storage unit big enough to house my record collection and well made but also within my budget ($600 tops). If anybody has suggestions on a shelf that is sturdy, under $600 and similar to the one I have, I'd be appreciative.

The one I have (that's completely full)... you can see how not having a middle leg was a very dumb design decision for something made out of pine:

Is it me, or with current lumber prices (corner molding for ie) do these seem like a pretty good deal now for $3 ea ($75 plus ship for a 5x5 Expedit)

Shipping on 25 was bit much for me so I'm going the 2x2x8 home depot route, under $30 for my 5x5.
Put them in your cart, fill in your info, then leave the cart at the payment page. You should get one if those "hey, you left something in your cart" emails with a free shipping coupon code. I think it's FREESHIPPING, but I'm not sure
