Any of the N&G fam get lucky. I see that Vinyl Wings is going to announce it’s blues and rock sub & another message was sent telling that all pressings will be from quality labels like MOV etc so no fears of grey label releases.

We have had 3 winners so far and we've e-mailed each of them, I'm unfortunately not sure whether any were from N&G, so would be great to hear from you if you're out there!

You are absolutely correct - we are launching our Rock & Blues genre in about 3 weeks time! We will begin taking orders in mid-April, and the first box will be announced on 1st of May, with delivery in end of May!

Having been in operation for just over a year now, we have been trying out various suppliers and their product and have made the strategic decision to only focus on those labels which provide a good, high listening experience. We have had some bad experiences with certain labels just as WaxTime, Jazz Images and a few others.

As such, we would like to focus our offering on releases from MOV, Blue Note, Rhino, Fat Possum and a number of others which provide the listening experience that the music we pick deserves! We hope to be able to provide the best product and experience to our beloved members!

Sure - although the option won't be directly available in the member's portal to "switch" between genres, if a situation arises where you have the picks of the month and prefer the jazz ones, just reach out to us and of course we'll make sure to satisfy your request.

Well - without giving too much away and taking away from the surprise factor, I can tell you that in the first few months you can expect the following artists to be featured: Creedence Clearwater Revival, Frank Zappa, John Lee Hooker, Grateful Dead, Otis Spann, Lightning Hopkins, Ten Year After.

The brainchild of Al Kooper, this one of a kind blues collaboration featured the incredible Stephen Stills and Mike Bloomfield. The success of this record opened the door for the "supergroup" concept of the late 1960s and 1970s for the likes of Blind Faith, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and others.

This is the Allman Brothers Band's comeback album, and their best blues-based outing since Idlewild South that restored a lot of their reputation.

Wilson Pickett has to feature in every true soul lover's collection! With his 4th studio album he brought his heavy, in-your-face Memphis style to a number of incredible covers, most notably to his version of the timeless classic Mustang Sally.



Jaco Pastorius
Jaco Pastorius, 1976

There's very few bassist who could channel energy into their instrument the way that Jaco could! His debut solo album featured the elite of the jazz world including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and David Sanborn. The record was recorded just a few months ahead of Black Market - Jaco's first album with Weather Report.

Free was a one of the British bands that pioneered Hard Rock, in no small part thanks to one of our favourite vocalists - Paul Rogers. With their third album featuring the timeless rock anthem All Right Now the band cemented their position as Rock royalty!




Otis Spann
The Biggest Thing Since Colossus, 1969

This may be one of the greatest blues albums we've heard in a long time! What the cover doesn't tell you is that the great Chicago Blues pianist Otis Spann is backed by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, who were touring the US at the time! Whilst Spann is simply sensational, it is often claimed that Peter Green produced some of his best playing on this album.




Thin Lizzy
Johnny The Fox, 1976

Following the success of their Jailbreak album, Thin Lizzy wasted no time in recording their awesome follow-up. The album is incredibly diverse - featuring heavy Lizzy guitar riffs we love, an incredibly funky title track and beautiful ballads! Written and recorded while bassist/vocalist Phil Lynott was recovering from hepatitis, it is also the last studio album to feature Brian Robertson as a full member of the band.

Buddy Guy & Junior Wells

This southern-style, Rhythm & Blues album was recorded in the Miami Criteria Studios in the second half of 1970. This is probably the best recordings Guy & Wells ever made, sounding clean and smooth - an excellent album from two masters of the blues!





Aerosmith

Following a temporary break-up and subsequent reunion of the band in the early 80s, Aerosmith's ninth studio album PermanentVacation would regain the band their popularity with electric numbers including Dude (Looks like a Lady) and the beautiful Angel.

Soul Finger is the debut album of the Bar-Kays, who were tutored by various members of Booker T. & the M.G.'s. The instrumental album is super energetic and funky, and will certainly be a hit soundtrack to your next summer barbecue or gathering!

An awesome addition to our member's jazz shelves which we can't wait for you to hear!

Hot Rats was Zappa's first recording project after the dissolution of the Mothers of Invention. This incredible album really displayed Zappa's creativity and ability on the guitar, not to mention his overall wackiness! Former band member Captain Beefheart delivers awesome vocals for one of the tracks on what is otherwise an instrumental album described by Zappa himself as "a movie for your ears".






John Lee Hooker
Never Get Out of These Blues Alive, 1972

The absolute master of the blues John Lee Hooker recorded this album within just two days in 1971, working together with young stars Van Morrison and Steve Miller, among others. John takes centre stage delivering the hard edged blues he's known for, whilst giving his fellow musicians enough space to jam along - just like we like to hear!

After a lacklustre few albums, Blue Oyster Cult brought back their successful writers team including musician Patti Smith and dark-fantasy writer Michael Moorcock. This would be the final studio album with the band's original line-up for seven years and it certainly feels like they put everything into this one - a landmark piece in the band's awesome history!
