So my bro @Ginormousthumbs nominated me on FB to do the 10 album challenge. I’m only using that social media for checking up on a mystery cross stitch along (I know I’m so interesting) so I thought I would do it here. All 10 of these are so important and special
I’m playing this one now because it’s just me in the house.
Ayalew Mesfin - Ambassel
Orchestre Baobab - Kelen Ati Leen
Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou - Man Lon O & N'goua
I got into Ethiopian 7s about 5 years ago as I thought they were way too expensive to go after but then found a great seller who I for this from for about £15. I now see only one on Discogs, in same condition as mine, is listed at €365 (which I can't believe it's worth). Otherwise, we've got a copy of Orchestre Baobab's funkiest song, with two more from the mighty Poly-Rythmo.
Gil Evans And His Orchestra - There Comes A Time (RCA, 1976 First Pressing)
This was a freebie that a seller threw in with an order I placed a while back. Haven't spun it until now and its great. Very different to what you would imagine from Evans, an eclectic mix of electronic sounds, rock, etc.
