I'll confess: I was turned onto this by a bald guy wearing a yellow flannel. It's downright terrifying and convincing that the music composes the feeling of what goes on in the mind of a psychopath. Their live show from last year + Lingua Ignota made for my favorite show of '19.

I can never listen to a single track on this one. It's always a full run through. So many different genres in EVERY track...one moment you're basking on a tropical scape, the very next second you're in a vintage horror film.

Akala ‎– Ten Years of Akala (Illa State Records, 2016 3lp Signed Anniversary Compilation)

Just watched a few hours of Akala talks on Instagram and Youtube. The guy is seriously clever. Im going to try to get a copy of his book,
Natives: Race and Class in the Ruins of Empire, when it comes back in stock at my local.
