What's Spinning

The mix of Daryl Hall and Robert Fripp seems like an odd pairing, but it works really well on this album.

Daryl Hall ‎– Sacred Songs
RCA Victor ‎– AFL1-3573, 1980

Cut by George Piros at Atlantic Mastering
Pressed at RCA, Indianapolis

I also have a later 80's reissue that was cut by Robert Ludwig...maybe someday I'll do a comparison.

Anyone listened to Kevin Morbys latest offering ? Im gonna spin my VMP exclusive later - Went in blind on this because I trust the artist.
Will edit post later ...:)

It is a bit of a disappointment for me. I thought from the description that it would be something to really connect with. As @DMacanT points out, some of the lyrics are odd and the songs just didn’t stand out. I do really like him in general, so I plan to revisit & try to listen a bit more closely.

Great album! Two of my favorite quirks of that album are: 1. Milestones slows down significantly throughout the song; 2. Miles Davis and Red Garland got in a fight over Miles's overbearing vision of how he wanted Red Garland to play the piano on Sid's Ahead. Red Garland ended up leaving the session, and Miles recorded both the piano and the trumpet on that track.

Time to get a little more peppy:

Little background about how I spin. My flipbin has my new arrivals, the front is taken up with the various ROTM (soon to be four slots smaller - I counted Rising as an ROTM). I try to spin one of those a day, even in a case like this where I’m not blown away by the pick - I’m trying to understand why it was curated.

Behind that will be records that have been spun once and behind those, records that have been spun twice. I have a stack next to my right speaker that is my current heavily spun (plus usually a blue note and a Willie Record right now - in anticipation of Anthology and because I am reading Willie’s memoir). Once they have been spun three times they reside in the shelves (unless I find myself reaching for them too damn often. - ooh thread idea)
