What's Spinning

After owning the original mix on CD for so long it’s actually the new mix that I couldn’t get on board with, they sound like completely different albums to me. If there are decently priced OGs or pre 2018 vinyl pressings I’d be very tempted!
Have to admit that even streaming is better than a lot of the recent releases. When they first came out I picked up quite a few in excitement and had to replace lots of them. Even now, with a decent set (which doesn't skip or sound muddy) I know the earlier pressings are likely better. Its a reaal shame because it could of been a really killer set of releases.

Django Reinhardt - Django (Affinity, 1987 8LP Box Set with Book)

Im currently reading Ted Gioia's 'The History Of Jazz' (although I'm struggling to find the time to actually sit down with it!) and there's a very interesting section on the formation of European jazz which focuses on Django and Stephane Grappelli (a violinist that was in the 'Quintette du Hot Club de France' along with Django), so it seems like perfect timing to continue listening to this massive box set!

Yeah it was a real missed opportunity. That said I’ve reconciled myself with the fact that I owned too many CDs prior to getting into vinyl for me to ever be likely to fully go vinyl. It’s just a pity with an artist like Waits who I would love a good vinyl collection of!

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
