Ready for the weekend! Spinning the Jazz Dispensary: Cosmic Stash in honor of NOT paying $50 per LP for a Jazz Dispensary set (RIP VMP). Absolutely badass collection of music though.
George Braith – Extension (Blue Note, 1967 First Mono Pressing)
A new pick up from today (I will post it along with a few others over the weekend) and it sounds fantastic! Some fantastic playing from Braith, who pairs nicely with Grant Green.
I instantly loved this album when I bought it a few years ago, but I ended up with a seriously warped copy.
I can't believe I am saying this, but it's nice to have a copy that I can listen to without fear of damaging my turntable. Good work, VMP!
A recently acquired original Bizarre copy. Sounds incredible!
I can think of about ten bands that sound like this record NOW that get all the credit for songwriting and arranging that Spoon SHOULD have had with this album in '96. I know they've put out a million albums since this but, well, this is the one I keep returning to. Never disappoints.
Would not have been my first pick for a Gabor Szabo classics pick, but this is a beautiful album.
