Currently spinning side 3 of an original US SP pressing. (Pictured) I started playing the 2019 RSD pressing for the 1st time Sunday. I thought the LP1 acoustic sides sounded a little off but I was more listening for background after a lot of other spins.

Tonight I dropped on Side 3 of the new 2019 and sit down. A couple mins into it I thought maybe the needle had picked up a hairball. Eardrums bleeding I stopped playback. All good on the equipment front.

So...Pulled out my OG copy and cued Side 3. Not audiophile but so much better. If anyone has the new 2019 and doesn’t like it be sure to give an earlier pressing a go. FWIW I love the original. Going to have to find a new home for the 2019 reissue.

Mulatu Astatke - New York-Addis-London
Richard Hawley - Live at the Devil's Arse 2017

A greatest hits from the greatest of Ethiopian musicians, and another reminder of how wonderful live music is and how much I miss it from a concert deep inside a colourfully-named Peak District cave.

Jacob Miller - Natty Christmas

I should get my 24th Christmas album in a week or two so I thought I'd play one a day in this thread (also a way of putting them in my play-through). This is one of my very favourites. It looks like it's going to be a novelty one with the cover but Jacob Miller is one of the greats of reggae and this is very cool. So cool that my kids for years used to correct anyone singing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" with "no, it's We Wish You An Irie Christmas".

Miles Davis - Double Image // Rare Miles From The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions (Columbia, 2020 RSD Limited Pressing)

Really enjoyed this. I wasn't really sure what to expect as another Miles outtakes set I have (the Freedom Jazz Dance (The Bootleg Series Vol. 5)) is good but the vast majority is chatting between the musicians and short takes. Luckily these are much more together and complete.
