What's Spinning

#1208-1209

EABS - Discipline of Sun Ra
Leonard Cohen - Live in London

Fabulous modern Polish jazz - I hope one day they become better known as they're as good as anything out of London. And speaking of London, my girlfriend and I saw Leonard Cohen there in 2008. I don't think it was the exact gig of this album but it was v close - I got this for my girlfriend for Christmas as she was there too, but it may be that I give it more spins...

#1210-1220

Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou - Gbeto Vivi / Bonne Année / Adjro Mi / Ao Vero / Vive Les Deux Presidents / Ma Dou Nou Sou Mi O / Nou Tche Non Ve Ye Wou / Mi Gni Wan Nou Nonzo / Typou Tche Vive Nan / Dekpe Lomin
Muriel Grossmann - Golden Rule

10 fantastic Poly-Rythmo singles in everything from NM to G form but all of them bloody amazing. And Muriel's only 7 to date - an edit of some album stuff but still great. Getting up and down to change the sides distracts me from the news.

In a day of complete fucking chaos, I needed this.
T-Model Ford is an embodiment of what the American dream can be: an illiterate black man who didn't learn to play an instrument until well into adulthood not even recording his first album until he was 73 years old.
He didn't back down.
He didn't give up.
Respect Is Due.

I didn’t know any of that. T-Model Ford, you’re my hero.
