What's Spinning

Funny I was going to sell my copy. Then I played it again and thought "what am I thinking?" Keeper.
Right! I don’t know what it was about this album but initially I didn’t want to like it. Thankfully at some point (probably after seeing them play most of these songs live) I finally accepted that this is another fantastic record from a band who’s made many.

If you have to listen to one album recorded by a Portuguese, this is the album. José Afonso - Cantigas de Maio is a landmark in Portuguese music history and in Portuguese history. I recommend learning more about Grândola Vila Morano while listening to the song, Cantar Alentejano or the amazing Coro da Primavera.

This is a purchase that arrived to my home pre-2021. Now that one of my major hurdles of January is mostly clear, I’m back to hyping the No Buy Vinyl January Challenge!!! Pull out those records you haven’t listened to that were in your possession by 12/31/20, hop over to our thread and earn points to win a donation to a local food bank/animal shelter!

The more people that join, the less likely I will have to donate in @Ginormousthumbs name and that will make me happy.

The Joe Harriott Quintet - Swings High (Melodisc, 1970 First Pressing)

Another killer from Harriott. This one is actually a tricky album to get. I paid a fraction of its value after the seller listed it as poor, after emailing for more info it actually turned out to be in fantastic shape, I just don't think the seller had the chance to play it.
