What's Spinning

Michael Garrick Septet - Black Marigolds (Argo, 1966 First Mono Pressing)

File this one under British jazz rarities. It's pretty tricky to find from what I have seen online and it's a real cracker for sure. Talk about a killer lineup, with Joe Harriott, Dave Green, Colin Barnes, Trevor Tomkins, Tony Coe, Don Rendell, Ian Carr and vocals/poetry from John Smith. Phew.

Hey everybody, I'm Ryan for those of you who don't know or don't remember me from the VMP forum days (which is probably everybody here).

I've been going through my 45s recently and came across this soulful little gem. It's not on discogs and I can't find any info elsewhere, but damn if isn't really good.

edit: I tried to post a clip but evidently I'm too dumb to figure out how to do that. It's the top post on my instagram if anybody is curious to hear what this sounds like.

that cover is dope!

First extended listening session with the new system, ran through a couple albums and then I ran into this. I love this album so much it makes me want to cry, and im hearing it in better clarity then ever before. If you've never listened to The Walkmen, or you're only familiar with their more aggressive earlier sound, please take an hour and listen to this. I had a chance to see them on this tour but I passed, and then they broke up a month later. That'll forever be one of my biggest regrets.

The Walkmen - Heaven
