A tribute to Clapton’s idol, Robert Johnson. Clapton is great, and the production values are high, but I fall in the camp that wished it would be a bit more bare. Clapton, a guitar, a microphone, maybe facing a corner, belting out Johnson tunes.
Still, I can’t complain as Clapton is a hell of a musician and blues man.
Miles Davis - Milestones (1966 Columbia 2 eye Stereo)
I have been working through Miles' whole discography for a while now (mostly streaming) and im currently up to 1971....so still plenty to go. Decided I cant get enough so im giving this a spin.
Duke Ellington & John Coltrane – Duke Ellington & John Coltrane (OG Impulse! Mono A-30, 1963 pressing)
This has been on my wantlist for ages and couldn't believe I was able to snag it for a fantastic price. The mono pressing is quite rare, there isnt actually any currently available on Discogs. Its a fantastic sounding record, with a stellar line up. I really enjoy Ellington in a non-big band set up, so pairing him up with Coltrane in a Quartet is superb.
