What's Spinning

I have had some company working at home today and we have been listening to Chance The Rapper all day. Annoyingly I am yet to get the official pressings of these albums (I was hoping for a UK shop to have them) so for now these bootlegs that I have had for ages will have to do. The 10 Day actually sounds fantastic but the rest are just OK.

And here's some photos that I took and stitched together from when we saw Chance here in London in 2016!

Caught up! The Sarah run completed, for the most part, my "S" plays so it'll be a mix of recent pickups and records I want to listen to for a bit before I get to the R's. Also, The Fall and The Wall being on the same cube set-up was a fluke.

The Collection Playthrough

170 - Pink Floyd - The Wall

This was a beater copy I found for a reasonableish price at my local. Some noise early on, busted up jacket, but honestly given how hard it can be to find cheap used, I'll take it. At least til my Target glitch remaster comes on in, then I'll see which gets kept.

171 - Counting Crows - August and Everything After (AP)

There's a ton of hype for the AP pressing and no disappointment here. Huge spacing between the instruments, crystal clear vocals, just a master class in audiophile presses. It's the kinda record that makes me want to prioritize a new cartridge at least to get more out of it.

172 - Norah Jones -Not Too Late (AP)

One of three Norahs I snagged before the reported price bump (which isn't there yet). I think it's my favorite Norah album, though that may be some nostalgia talking for sure. I don't think this pressing was a marked upgrade on other forms of listening but it's an overdue by after it got sniped out of my Plaid Room cart

173 - Norah Jones - The Fall (AP)

The second of the three Norahs, really solid stuff

174 - Norah Jones - Little Broken Hearts (AP)

So I remember reviews of the regular version being slagged, and people aren't thrilled with the AP, but it feels like the one of these six or so in the box set (well, my patchwork one) that really did see some notable gains from this round. After giving a listen to all the AP options I feel like it's safe to say they are still better than the normal ones (though I'd love to hear a Classic Records Come Away With Me...), but that I don't think they're wholly essential upgrades except for maybe Little Broken Hearts and Come Away With Me (only because the regular copies of CAWM are QA questionable). However, it's not like it's much more expensive anyway so why not?

175 - Justice - Cross

Sick stuff. Been meaning to snag this one for a while. Just great techno and pop combos. I do wish there were a few more poppy songs, but D.A.N.C.E. is still an absolute slammer and Tthhee Ppaarrttyy never gets old for the odd party bop it is.
