Archie Shepp – Attica Blues

In addition to receiving an incredibly killer Secret Santa package yesterday, it was also my friends' and my semi-monthly Secret Santa-style Record Cult Club last night and my friend had been sitting on this one for me for a few months... Probably my absolute most desired VMP release - I spent my entire membership hoping for a repress of this!

Fuck man, I saw this on PBS a few years ago. His family life was brutal.
Now that you say that I do remember that part was very rough. It's been a long time since that show so my memory is a bit hazy of it, but I remember he came out and talked about that and why he never really knew this stuff about his dad and why he decided to try and learn about the professional side of him after all that time. Still would recommended, but yes, not an easy life and my post didn't indicate that at all.

A not so wholesome spin thanks to @duke86fan! It's hard to believe a human could keep that drum tempo up so consistently. I can only take death metal in small doses, especially the extra gory stuff, but the audio quality on this really is superb. Now to pick out a happy album to balance out my soul, lol
