Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham - Moments From This Theatre
Hanne Kolstø - Live at Tøyenkirken
A funny coincidence of a pairing of records. I was at the Dan Penn/Spooner Oldham gigs (bizarrely for a live album, they were only the support act; Nick Lowe was the headliner). It's one of my favourite albums. Such beautiful soul from two guys who wrote so many hits. I saw them in a tiny club in Paris a year or two later and it was one of the best gigs I ever saw. Felt like seeing Elvis or something. And then the Hanne Kolstø album is from a gig I was meant to be at. But I misread the ticket and when it said 8pm start I rocked up at 8.05 only to find they locked the doors to the church at 8pm. So I had to buy the album to experience it!
EDIT Even more coincidentally almost certain @Matt M that Damien Jurado was support act to Dan Penn in Paris...

James Yorkston - The Cellardyke Recording and Wassailing Society
I know there's little love for this pressing but after a spin in the Humminguru and cranked up I think this sounds rather wonderful. A big step up from TKOL for me.
