What's Spinning

The Joe Harriott Quintet - Abstract (Columbia, 1963 First Mono Pressing) & (Columbia/Capitol Records, 1963 First US Pressing)

Decided to listen to this album twice and run a little comparison at the same time, because I'm just that sad. Really great, groundbreaking album regardless of pressing. Harriott was developing and performing this music in the mid-50's, a couple of years until Ornette Coleman hit the scenes in the US. The main difference here is that Harriott focused on group work as a whole, with Abstract highlighting this nicely.
