What's Spinning

Growing up in the US in the ‘60s as I did, you heard Burt Bacharach’s music everywhere whether you wanted to or not. It was usually too precious for my tastes and I didn’t have a high impression of his music, popular as it was. Then I heard Walk On By as done by Isaac Hayes. It was the first BB song that had a tinge of the electric F31426F4-DB54-471F-8A56-44AFACACB1EC.jpegBlues in it and it lent credence to his his massive appeal. Listening to it now reminds me of how overwrought the arrangement is but it still has the funk and Isaac Hayes was one bad MFer.
