If you ever watched the TV show Treme then you are familiar with the character Davis McAlary. New Orleans hustler, shyster, sometimes musician, his part was based upon a real person, Davis Rogan. My wife was a real fan of the show so I did some research and found that he had a CD. Didn’t have a website but I was able to track down his phone number and gave him a call and ordered the disc. Rough but humorous, it gets played on Fat Tuesday. Best part, imo, are the contributions of one Ms. Cheeky Blakk whose NSFW raps have to be heard to be believed. Just as you should expect it from real New Orleans.
Have to join in on some New Orleans fun! @OMC has been killing it so I’ll add to it. Treme was amazing, I found so many excellent bands through the show. Pot for Potholes!
Destroyer "City of Daughters"
Had this on order with my local for a while, got a message it was in and got there just before they closed, might as well enjoy it right away instead of adding it to the pile!
It’s been a fun ramble to and through New Orleans. I’ll end it with Dr. John’s last release before his passing. The rawness in his voice on a couple of tracks lets you know he’s ready to accept his fate. Such a life.
Collection Playthrough (reverse alphabetical by title) #859 Various – Fantastic Country Vol. 1
This is a Free Store score from last summer that I hadnt spun yet. I just now learned "Amos Moses" isn't a Les Claypool song, having only previously been familiar with his Duo De Twang version.
