I had no idea who he was the day it was released and fell instantly in love. I've had it on CD since the next day but had yet to get it on vinyl. Couldn't pass up the $11.99 Newberry version though! I vividly remember putting the bigger picture together over the first half dozen to a dozen listens. And being absolutely delighted with many of his lyrical choices.

The day this arrived I actually got a notification from Arts & Crafts letting me know my next new release subscription title was going to be Norm, which I was hoping for and I swapped my catalogue title for Wilds - so it was a very Andy Shauf day. Those should ship out next week, I think.

Yeah, that big picture is very cool, and heartbreaking to the romanticist in me. I’ve only listened to Norm once and wasn’t grabbed. Definitely have to give it more time. He’s earned that right. The Party is excellent. Interconnected stories that aren’t quite as personal.

The body of Layne Staley was discovered on this day in 2002.

He weighed 86lbs.

He was in such a state of decomposition dental records were used for identification.

People - no matter how frustrating a situation may be, regularly check on your people.

Layne fought battles. They are well documented...

I remember getting home to the news early in the morning from my job at the bar and immediately calling my manager to tell him the news. He told me to come back and we plugged the jukebox and blasted Alice in Chains songs until we both nodded off. The opening bartender didn't know what to make of the scene when she got in.
