What's Spinning

Damn, I miss this man. From the Yardbirds’ For Your Love to Loud Hailer Jeff Beck has held me spellbound with his immense talent since 1965. I’ve had this copy since then and I find it amusing that he is sitting at an organ keyboard on the cover. Happy to say I saw him live once. Stretched his strings from one side of the fretboard to the other for nearly two hours and didn’t touch the tuning knobs once, all on the one guitar. Love every single one of his albums but the DVD of Live At Ronnie Scott’s is the most incredible of his recordings, IMO. Not only is his playing utterly amazing but you get to see up close some of his techniques. It’s all in his hands and it’s truly astounding to see how he made the sounds he did. Happy Heavenly Birthday Sir Jeff. IMG_2625.jpeg

Though he could snarl, growl and scream with the best of them, as he does on this slab, his true brilliance speaks most loudly at his quietest moments. He could express his innermost feelings clearly and distinctly with the lightest of touch. He didn’t always need to bludgeon you with his mastery of the Stratocaster and sheer volume. He wanted you to know he was human, just like the rest of us, and he did so by speaking quietly to our hearts and souls with consummate skill. For me, he succeeded in that task. Yup, I miss him.

#1245/1500. Super nice new classical Berliner Philharmoniker vinyl box of a previously released cd/digital set. 6 - 180g LPs & Clothbound hardcover book. Display box is high quality heavy textured cloth bound. Inner black designed lp sleeves (note 1 - 6 lines) but vinyl is also in wht poly lined inners. Original Digital-to-Analog but sounds great to me. So far pressing is very quiet 🤞. Mixed selection by Conductor Kirill Petrenko - Beethoven/Tchaikovsky/etc.
