What's Spinning

Panopticon - Scars II: The Basics. Acoustic. Oozes atmosphere. So far my pressing is dead quiet. Nice.

Update: Sadly, I think the vinyl of this haunted acoustic guitar / vocal lp sold out. One of quietest pressings I own. Bandcamp link below if anyone cares to sample tunes:

Wayne Shorter - Juju (Blue Note, 1985 Pressing)

I dug this one out this morning. Back when I first started listening to jazz I bulk bought 6-7 Blue Note records from a single online listing for cheap not really knowing about the pressing details, I just wanted to hear the music. This is a DMM pressing which is usually to be avoided when it comes to jazz. It actually sounds OK to me, its clear it isnt an audiophile release, but it does the job.

Henry Lowther Band – Child Song (Deram, 1970 First Pressing)

Today is the 82nd birthday of the legendary British trumpeter Henry Lowther. I was lucky enough to see Henry perform live (alongside Dave Green and Pete Hurt) last year here in London and he was incredible. We chatted for a bit afterward and when I showed him this vinyl he couldn't believe I had a copy. He agreed to sign it and told me all about the recording of it and how much stick he got for wearing bright yellow socks to the photo shoot.
