What's Spinning

Fresh Grab #2.

First time I saw Lucinda Williams was May 2004 and she absolutely blew me away. This was recorded about a year later a few months before and its so great to have a vinyl recording of that iteration of her band and Doug Pettibone's imbeccable guitar work. Thanks to @Yer Ol' Uncle D for keepng an eye out!

Take the long way home, so I can ride around
Put Neil Young on and turn up the sound

This was such a ridiculous deal - 3 great sounding LPs in a triple gatefold for $25. Score.

I'm so excited to spin mine later this weekend!

Apparently, I saw Lucinda back in 2004 at my first ever folk festival but have zero recollection of it because she wasn't one of the artists I was really there to see that weekend. Steve Earle too. 24 year old me was dumb!!

I found my ticket to RL Burnside several years ago, back when he was doing the rounds with Jon Spencer. Small club, here in London shortly after I moved to the city. Absolutely ZERO recollection of this night. Genuinely only thought I'd heard RL for the first time about ten years after this ticket was dated. Young drunk and high Mick probably had a whale of a time in the moment but he sure does regret not forging better memories during that period!

Yeah, I didn't look back at the schedule but I wonder of Lucinda and Earle were the day I kicked my own ass with an extra strong cookie (and made an ass of myself when I met Saul Williams after his set! 😳)

You get the box, or the single LP?
Box. It’s beautiful. Only thing that I can slightly be critical of is that they decided to make the book with a stapled seam which is fine, but… they made the gatefold to the Album proper have a wide spine to house it in the middle. This probably won’t matter to folks who store box sets on the box in the shelf, but for those of us who put them on the shelf like they are regular albums… not so much. Fortunately, it’s not the thickest book in the world, so it slid into one of my handy dandy gatefold sleeves.
