David is a Swamper and founding member of arguably the greatest house band in the world, the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, and has played on records by Willie Nelson, Cher, Boz Scaggs, Aretha Franklin, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Traffic, The Staples Singers, Frank Black, Odetta, John Hiatt, Etta James, Percy Sledge. Klaus Voorman and The Waterboys.
He's also the father of Patterson Hood of Drive-By Truckers.
David was in a band called Rockets. They had a minor hit with a smoking version of 'Oh Well' back in '79. Let's roll with that.
