Decided to finally crack open the box set this morning. First impression is that this sounds very good to me...even coming from a safety copy of the master. I have more listens to my old 90's CD of this album than the 1968 copy I have on vinyl (and the not great mono reissue), so I really don't have an opinion on how much better early vinyl releases sound better. This reminds me of the sound I'm used to when I played the Doors a bit more often back in high school.
