What's Spinning

You’re taking the piss , right! They were cut from the digital files that were done for the CD box.But you knew that .

Yeah I knew that they had used the same master that they had cut the CDs and released the 24/96 files from and was taking the piss!

Good morning everyone...and a happy #NationalCoffeeDay

I've got a fairly random reissue but this sounds good enough for me to resist the 50th anniversary one. I've spent so much recently I'm trying to be *checks dictionary* sensible

Not being a huge fan of Abbey Road, I mostly got the set for the session tracks....I find these tracks interesting.

But I still think I'll be listening to my MoFi copy more.

The remix sounds a bit too modern to me.

I like some of the extras a lot and some not that much. I just know from increasing experience that I won't play them very often. I think Dylan is the exception that proves the rule as his outtakes are often so different. But most of the others eg Beatles, Led Zeppelin, REM show that they had pretty good judgment on what to include. (Esher Sessions being perhaps another exception).

I was definitely in for the session tracks, I'm enjoying them a lot, not sure I would have pulled the trigger on just the remix/remaster alone since, like you, I have the MoFi pressing. But, I do think they did a great job with it and outside of the MoFi or early original I would put this (the single LP version) at #3 of "which version to get" out of 4 ;)
  1. 1st Press (One can dream)
  2. Mobile Fidelity
  3. 50th Anniversary
  4. 1984 UK Parlophone pressing

Just want to add that in my experience, many of the 70s UK pressings are very well regarded. Mine certainly sounds great. IIRC many people over at sh.tv recommend them about as much as the originals.

This is as close to church as I get on Sunday morning.
I'm so not religious it hadn't even occurred to me until I read your post that this is the perfect day to listen to this. This compilation is amazing and given it's the fourth amazing gospel funk/soul compilation I've got it's fair to say there's a lot of great music out there
