What's Spinning

The toddler is down for a nap.
But the four-month-old wants a dance party.
I think I made the right call with this one… Really hope this album, as well as “Made in USA“ and “Happy End of the World“ get a repress someday, because these records are downright fabulous.

Nahko And Medicine For The People - Hoka (SideOneDummy Records, 2016 'Orange Crush' pressing limited to 1000)

Another that I saw live, this time in April 2018. It was a fantastic acoustic session with Nahko and Trevor Hall at the tiny little venue, Omeara in London. A fantastic night of live music!

Can you give any feedback on what makes this one the "audiophile" version as it's advertised? None of the listings I've seen provide any detail. I've got three different pressings of this and am curious if there's really any difference. Thanks friendo.

Other than its 180g blk vinyl and a Hype sticker that clearly says “Audiophile”. :-)

Hype sticker says “Remastered”. But, No detailed mastering/pressing info that I can find anywhere. Cover just has pictures for the most part.

I don’t have another version to compare but here are pics of what is on this version. Maybe you can spot something that helps.

Last one for awhile.

“Mixing modern psych and post-punk with improvised free-jazz style jams, ‘Dim Sun’ ... by Eye Make The Horizon the band...themselves have a fantastic pedigree with most of the band appearing in such renowned Swedish psychedelic outfits as Kungens Män, Fanatism, Automatism and Sista Maj." 'The saxophone is bloodshot eyes and sweatstains feverish, the drums a trashcan symphony that never loses sight of the middle distance, while the guitar roils and rolls almost in another plane, barely anchored to the noise being propagated here.'

Michael Kiwanuka - Kiwanuka

yeah so this album is pretty damn special. Michael Kiwanuka is one of those special artists who get better with each album. this is timeless and modern at the same time. Right up there with Ghosteen as the album of the year so far and it’s making a late outside run for the highest reaches of the album of the decade lists.
