What's Spinning

#88: Bill Evans - You must believe in spring

My collection is missing a lot of great Bill Evans records, but I'm really glad to own this one. It may not be one his most celebrated, but it sure is a great album. His playing on this record is very meditative and much less derivative than some of his earlier recordings. In my eyes, this signals a sorts of maturity, self reflection that arrived later in his life after some really tough times.
Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I love your captions dude! What you have to say about the records you post has gotten me to listen to a lot of new records that would’ve taken me a while to get around too! Keep em coming!

Released on this day in 1971.

This is the last Zep record I reach for. So much of it just got ground into the dirt via repeated listening beginning with my high school daze in the 70's and progressing forward for a few decades.

With that said, I'll drop the needle on Side B in a heartbeat.

I watched this during my #31DaysofHalloween, but didn't get a chance to spin this. Pretty good synth score for a not really good movie.

Someday I'll A/B this with the 2011 release - but something tells me they will be pretty close.

It’s been a bastard of a hot day here today, slowly the sun is setting on another Friday down under, Horace Parlan Quintet- Speakin’ My Piece MMJ is helping cool me down.View attachment 21823

Opposite issue here. After 8 straight days in the 90's in mid-October (unheard of) the low here tonight is going to be 25 (unusually cold).

I'm just glad I have the government to assure me there's no climate change and it's all a big hoax. I'll feel much better as I simultaneously burst into flames and am swallowed by the rising sea.

With a hard frost coming, guess I'll go with some heat...

Listening to the new FKA Twigs via Spotify because Amazon shipped the record with UPS instead of USPS - so it won't get here till Monday...Saturday at the earliest...not today.

It's good. I'll move on to something else after this listen is finished...3rd time around - then I'll wait for the vinyl.

Unfortunately, releases from the Young Turks label aren't usually that great....so we'll see.

Yeah we have an equally Climate Change denialist Conservative government here that are Fucking up this country in the Interests Of the Rich and Influential , people are so fucking dumb that they vote these pigs in again and again against their best interests but they don’t seem to understand what these crooks are doing to their way of life, I mourn for my Country. Bush fires galore going on at the moment and the worst drought in a generation ! !! the Velvets May be the Solution. 🤪
