And now on to side 8 of this beast. What an amazingly relentless and inventive musician Miles Davis was. I've got into his late stuff more and more recently but it's a real pleasure to overdose on his early stuff.
First Xmas spin of the year, and it's a new discovery for 2019. I've long enjoyed the Cherish The Ladies - On Christmas Night album for its traditional Irish spin on Yule tunes, but it's not on vinyl. This is pretty similar, possibly not quite as good to my taste, but really good nonetheless.
This one ended up being the exact same pressing I already have, but it is in much better shape - cover and vinyl - than the one I found at my local FYE.
Gordon Lightfoot – Sit Down Young Stranger Reprise Records – RS 6392, 1970
I know I didn't need yet another copy of this one, this is #6 - but the Steven Wilson mix and 2nd LP of alternate versions was too much to pass up.
King Crimson – In The Court Of The Crimson King (An Observation By King Crimson) Panegyric/Discipline Global Mobile/Inner Knot – KCLPX2019, 1969/2019
Grant Green, Funk In France. 3 LP. 2018 RSD pressing by Resonance Records. Live funky workouts from Green with trio and quartet. The 1969 session from Maison de la Radio in Paris on the first record sounds louder and more dynamic than the recordings from the Antibes Jazz Festival on the remain two discs. Not a huge issue, just turned up the volume and tweaked my EQ.
The best children’s show ever created. Endlessly rewatchable even as an adult (when the actual product rarely lives up to your nostalgic memories). And a fucking awesome soundtrack. So many musical guest cameos (Iggy, Michael Stipe, Debbie Harry, Gordon Gano, LL Cool J, etc...). I may have to spend my next few days rewatching this for the upteenth time over some Blue Tornado Bars and Orange Julius on my Krebstar 3000 TV.
