I feel like rock music tonight. I didn’t know what to think when we got a metal AoTM (despite my teen dabblings) and it took me a while to actually spin it. I like it, probably because of the amount of singing as opposed to growling/shouting and the fact it isn’t early bleeding heavy. Well played @Goatfish! That said the rest of my spins tonight won’t be this heavy!
What an opening song this has...definitely a longtime favorite of mine. The whole album is a blast; cool choices for cover songs, the band rocks and Bob is so young and just belts it out.
Jutta Hipp - At The Hickory House Volume 1 (Blue Note, 1956 First Mono Pressing)
I've talked about Jutta a few times on here, but will mention her again. Such an amazing pianist and her life story is incredible. Could easily be made into a film or book (heres hoping for a biography one day!). Thoroughly recommend listening to this album, the first pressing on vinyl is a tricky one to find, but there are some decent represses out there!
