What's Spinning

David Gray- White Ladder, 2 LP, 33rpm

Just arrived today and enjoying a first listen. Really like the look of the white vinyl with gray label. I know there's a gray vinyl version that is supposed to be 45rpm and pressed at QRP. The track listing is the same over 2 LP's as this. I definitely prefer the white vinyl and it's a quiet pressing, with good clarity and great low end, so I'm wondering how much better the 45rpm version could be.

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
#145: Kelela - Take me apart

IMG_20200213_061202.jpg

I saw Kelela live in a festival a couple of years ago, shortly after this album was released. I was amazed at how pitch-perfect her singing was, and how invested she was in her performance. It was sexy, it was fun, it was dramatic and it was super entertaining. This is a very good album that shows a way in pop and R&B I wish more artists explored in the future, and one I hope Kelela expands even further on her following project.

This has again gone from Portland to DC a few times...now back in Portland, but was scanned in a bit differently, without a City or facility mentioned...so maybe something is different...we'll see.

Any previous mention of PORTLAND is now missing from the history

Arrived at USPS Facility
97215
Your item arrived at our USPS facility in ZIP Code 97215 on January 2, 2020 at 11:07 pm. The item is currently in transit to the destination.

Just an update with this package....it eventually was shipped back to the UK.

Burning Shed sent a 3rd package out on January 21 - it got to San Francisco and through customs on January 24. It went straight to Portland - then to WASHINGTON DC. Stayed on the same loop of DC, Southern MD, and Portland...until this morning.

It arrived at my local P.O. here in Salem.

I'm pretty sure this is sent registered, so I need to make sure I'm home to sign for it. But this is 3+ months in the making.

My collection #75

Afrosound - La Danza De Los Mirlos

Fruko is my favourite Latin artist and while I prefer his solo stuff, his spin off groups Wganda Kenya, Latin Brothers and Afrosound are all great. This surfs the line between funky Colombian and cheesy Colombian (sadly the cover is far from the worst cheesecake cover I've seen here) pretty well, but I've held back on purchasing more Afrosound as it's a bit too plinky plonky for me sometimes.
