Fresh from the frozen north, Santana's
Abraxas, courtesy of
@Mather , which arrived with almost no blood residue on the mailer at all thanks to Canada post finally getting an agreement sorted out (I assume -- for all I know it's because all the Toronto Weird Boys rode up to the postmaster general on their bikes and did that thing where they mime "I'm watching you" by pointing at their own eyes and then the postmaster and then making scary faces, which of course would get anyone to get their shit together).
Anyway.
Sundays at chez yukbon are when I normally get up before everyone else and make a coffee and maybe a light breakfast and then just put on a record or three until the house starts waking up. Today was a bit of an exception -- I kind of overdid it yesterday, so I slept in, and my youngest got up before me and decided to start playing fortnite with his friends. He's at that age when they start shit talking their friends when playing games, so I woke up to a child yelling "eat my farts!" to another child.
Once it was determined that I was up, I was asked if I would approve my 12 year old having his own uber eats account so he could get breakfast. When I said no and denied my starving child an app and instead suggested that I would make him breakfast, he very graciously accepted. While doing that I figured, "Hey, I can put on that Santana! it'll be great cooking music and my children will enjoy their heritage of latin rock!"
Reader, they did not. But I was allowed to continue to listen to my super old guy music if I agreed to make ribs for lunch, which I am happy to report
Abraxas is great oven-ribs music.
How to make oven ribs:
1. make a lemonade -- glass must be completely full of ice
2. Dry rub first, both sides
3. wrap in foil,
4. put in oven at 400 for 2 hours.
5. When bones just slide out, remove top of foil and cover in BBQ sauce,
6. turn off oven and turn on broiler until the sauce has charred and caramelized just a teensy bit.
7. Call your children in and sing "Oye como va" while you make them serve plates of ribs and sweet potatoes and clear the table (but not in that order).
