Is 'drip' really a term for a party pooper? I've never heard that in my life. "Alex was being a bit of a drip last night." Really??

I cheat (?) because I have a Merriam Webster tab open and when I have a doubt regarding a certain word I look it up. That word in particular had that meaning. But it definately sounds archaic.
